I just asked my Catholic husband about that yesterday. At least no one shuns you. You just can't partake.

Disfellowshiping: Why the Terror?
by Cold Steel inthe more i read about ritual shunning and disfellowshiping in the society, the more i wonder how the governing body and elders have pulled the proverbial wool over the eyes of the congregation.
first, the society doesnt consider itself a church (unlike the ancient christians, who did consider themselves to be part of a church).
yet, like other sectarians, they have their hands out for contributions and exercise immense power over their members.

Of course I want you to be happy. I wish everyone could be in a loving relationship if that is their wish. With a JW it gets so much more complcated that's all. Some women are ok with having an affair with a married man, or having a relationship without marriage. NOT for a JW. NOT ever going to happen. I just told you what you would have to do in order for your dream to come true.
As others have said " how does she feel about you " ? If you did all this, would she want to be with you ?
Whathappened, I thought of that too...him not being free to remarry, but is he under JW rules ? How long in the past would the divorice have to be?If a worldly man got a divorce five years ago, and he just became a JW, would they ask him those questions if he wanted to marry ? Ten years ? Could he just say he broke the marrige bond when he was in the world and didn't know better ?

First get a divorice.....or forget about it.Even If you got a divorice ( up to 12 months ) you would still have to become a JW, that could take another 12 months. So if you get right on that you could be holding her in 2 yrs. If everything goes according to the plan. Sorry
If she married you and you were not a JW, she would be marked. She may resent you for that later on. If she has an affair with a married man she will be disfellowshiped and will never be able to see you again if she wants to come back.. For her to get back in takes about a year too. How does that sound to you ?

You sound normal to me. I too am interested in JW history and all thier wacked out believes. I love history in general . I also read everything I can on Mormans, early Christians and what different religions believe. Kind of a hobby of mine.....I will never get over....and will keep learning everything I can to refute JW's . So this is something that interests you , that's cool. Some Guys like to work on cars, and spend hours fixing them up. You like to do research on the WT....... I get it

I had the Bold as Love album. My mom never said a word. She loved the Supreme's and bought me the greatest hits. She would NEVER
buy me Jimmy's album. My JW mom was a dream compared to what I read on this site. At the time I thought she was so strict. Compared
to the worldly moms she was. My dad was not a JW so that helped alot .
