hello all, i would like to first say that i am basically questioning my faith in god.

i am not negative towards the wt at all.

so honestly i am to concerned with more ad hominem attacks towards the wt because i still love the organization and the people in it.

A short history lesson:

The suffering of JWs was both tragic and unnecessary. Many individual JWs displayed tremendous courage and conviction. This suffering was a result of the words and actions of Rutherford, then president of the WT society. It was Rutherford who supported Hitler before the war, but later got JWs sent to the camps when he challenged Hitler to harm one Jehovah's Witness and see what would happen to him. Rutherford was anti-Semitic, calling Jews "profiteering, conscienceless, and selfish". - Golden Age 1927 Feb 23 p.343 During the 1930's under Rutherford, Witnesses became known as a religion of hate - due to their continual insults against other Churches and governments. In 1933, the Nazi government banned the Watchtower's German operations. To overturn the ban, Rutherford sent letters and Declarations to Hitler telling him that JWs were "pro German" and that the JW brothers "of Germany are fighting for the very same high ethical goals and ideals ... as the German Reich" In 1933 a Declaration of Facts was released at the convention stating the Watchtower's support of Germany's stance against Jews. But Rutherford's efforts to appease Hitler was to no avail. Too little, too late. The ban was not lifted. In 1934, Rutherford started to antagonize Hitler through his publications, challenging him to "refrain from persecuting JWs" ... or else "God will destroy YOU!" - Yearbook 1975 p.174 I was shocked when I first read this back in the 70's ...that it was Rutherford who threw the JWs under the bus, causing the persecution that the dear brothers had to endure. It was Rutherford who caused so many JW deaths

Would you read a post from Jesus himself if he criticized your religion? ...because he has already posted his feelings for all of us to read, you know.

If "the advice on what type of person you are supposed to be" is so great, then tell me how is it that JWs benefit others outside their immediate families and friends? How do they fulfill the good Samaritan standard that JC set for them?

Google search 'church offers support to refugees' . I did. Almost every religion on earth were mentioned. Did I see JWs mentioned? Why not?

We are witnessing the worst humanitarian disaster of our time. Most religions are reaching out to help. Not JWs.

You still don't have a single negative feeing towards them?

Please tell us how JWs have taught you to treat others and made you a better person?

Do you go along with their belief that most everyone on earth will be destroyed? When I was a JW I didn't know of any that objected to this idea. But if that's what makes you a better person and more likable, i'd have to ask you: Who are you more likable to?

Personally, i think the only honest JW is an exJW.

Can This Be True?

i was very tired today, still am.

age is getting to me.

Most of us stay in our comfort zones. We are ill-equipped/fearful to do otherwise. We give up on being of benefit to others outside of our immediate friends/families, instead of teaching our families to grow up strong and to show genuine love to outsiders.

It becomes remarkable to us when we see three young men overcome a terrorist on a train in France. We call them heroes and set them up as examples for others to follow But listening to them tell it, they say it comes from their christian upbringing. Their hearts were courageous in time of need while others fled the scene and ran away. I think those taught by WT would run away. I think the problem is systemic. I see the GB shirk Christian duties to reach out to those in trouble, and by example, teach their followers to do the same...instead they teach to "wait on Jehovah" and give us your ice cream. The 3 terrorist-stoppers were a different type of Christian.

I think this is what JC looks at when judging us individually.

dear friends, your posts are very good, but we really think that they will change many things soon...for example.

watch tower now are feminist and they protect the gay cause.soon we will have many gay marriages in kingdom halls.you will see.that governing body is really cool.ted jaracz and john barr were the last puritans in the governing body!.

the current governing body is completely liberal, but as yet has some bethelites the old guard working, they are still holding some behaviors .... but very soon you will see ... even in my congregation is very liberal ... not here disassociates for immorality .. just for apostasy ... i fucked three sister, but the elders did not shunned me, but they only help me!

Extreme emotions re today's watchtower

i was supposed to attend the meeting today, one of my once a month duties for the sake of my family and my fade.

i read the wt and i just can't stomach going.... what this wt does is again and again reiterate that only jws will survive the coming destruction and that they should be happy about this and raise ourselves erect...eg:.

we cannot expect that many people will suddenly convert to true christianity.

So i did.

On just the first 2 search pages were mentioned: methodist, catholic, lds, episcopalian, baptists, church of england...on and on.

Did I see Jehovah's Witnesses mentioned? I couldn't see them anywhere.

My wife went to the assembly today. I mentioned to her about this WT article. She grew emotionally angry at me, saying "why do you people only attack JWs and not any other religions?"

So I came here to read the comments for a while.

I read some churches website. I saw the picture of the dead boy on the beach. (i won't post it, you can google image it if you want to)

It gave statistics:
...ISIS has created the worst humanitarian disaster of our time.
...The number of innocent civilians suffering: more than 11 million people are displaced
...Half of those 11 million refugees are under the age of 18. There is no such thing as other people’s children. They are all of our children.

I read. I saw many pictures. but when i saw the dead boy on the beach again, i pictured the sexually abused JW children lying there in his place. I can't even type this right now.......

The article talked about whay they are coming: "They are risking everything, — because these families consider themselves dead already..

Right now Syrians consider themselves dead.

Maybe not physically, but psychologically and socially [a Syrian] is a destroyed human being, he’s reached the point of death.”

How many JW refugees have felt dead and managed to escape WT?

what is it about some of these self proclaimed "christians" who go seeking persecution when it don't exist?.

we've had a case locally in calgary where the initial reports sounded like the person had a legitimate claim: a bus driver didn't want to drive the bus in a gay pride parade and said he'd resign if they made him and that the local transit company was threatening him to force him to do it.. except it was all invented ... by him !.

they already proactively told him that there was no danger that he would be asked to drive that bus in the parade (i.e.

I don't see this liberal/conservative religious culture war going away in my lifetime.

But as we see in the post by Village Idiot (of Louis Gohmert), the question that fundamentalists can't answer is "who's religion are we gonna follow? Name the denomination that's right for this country and then we'll see if the American public is in favor of it."

We see the Christian right unprepared to meet others on the level of rational argument, but instead they begin by denouncing all argument and then throwing a parade whenever one of their own makes headlines. That's how they operate.

I very much still prefer the old fashioned way - separation of church and state - than have them making our life decisions for us

Server Error when using "Governing Body" in Search box

i have tried many times to use the words governing body in the search box field but i get a "server error" message every time.. anyone else experiencing this?.
