Preppers and prepping.... thoughts?
by EntirelyPossible inwhat do you guys think of preppers?
i have been watching doomsday preppers on natgeo (it's just a trainwreck, i can't stop watching) and while those guys are a joke, i think have a few weeks worth of supplies and water on had is a good idea (tornadoes, hurricane, freak snow/ice storm, etc.).
however, prepping years worth of food, 5000 rounds of ammo per gun, building a fortified bunker.... what for?

Hi EP! Although I do find them fascinating, I just watched an episode last night, I cannot understand them at all. They in a way remind me of the JWs, always planning for a day
that most likely will not happen. Last night they featured a young boy (15) who was obsessed with "prepping" and I told my husband I would be really upset if our son was like
him, the kid brought a gas mask to school for chrissake! Admittedly I would probably be among the first to perish if a disaster were to accure, I do not want to spend my days
thinking castrophe is right around the corner.... How YOU doin?

by Theocratic Sedition incertainly the identity of god's chosen messenger is bigger than any other current news, right?
i'm not saying j.r. needs to do a press conference, but at the least they could publish it in their public literature.
why keep it a big secret?

New partakers of bread and wine

so how are these people who suddenly start taking the emblems viewed by the gb?.
are they newly baptised people generally or born-ins?.

I have read through their web site, from what I gather they are active JWs who feel the society is not going in the right direction, mostly concerning
the "earthly hope", they are trying to convince the governing body to change their doctrines, but they are anonymous.... Thats what I gathered, you should
read the letters to the society, and letters from the readers. It's pretty interesting. They feel everyone is going to go to heaven, rather then the 2 class
doctrine. Their take on what the earthly hope would be like shows how impossible that belief really is if you break it down and think about it. Why don't
you look read for youself what they think?

i am also aware that many of these are the same arguments that stemmed from the 'awakenings at bethel' so my statements are not simply attacks of jwfact's character (since these arguments are probably not original) but rather his copy and paste of what others have said instead of verifying it as 'fact' for himself.. so here are jwfacts arguments:.
1. he shows that russell and rutherford (at some point) believed that the great crowd were in heaven.. 2. each term that describes the great crowd of revelation 7 is else used to described the anointed by the wt.

Femine supplies advice help needed
by jws ini'm divorced and i have a daughter who is nearly 11. last year she watched a video in school covering upcoming body changes (which she already knew about).
but one suggestion they gave that i didn't think of was to go get femine supplies and be prepared for when the time comes.
i like being prepared ahead of time for emergencies.

Yes, FHN, wipes also. I had that discussion with my daughter this summer. They need to be prepared with the extra hygiene they will need.

I just re read your post: thin pads with wings, slender tampons, panty liners....Keep them in the bathroom she uses when she is with you
You don't have to mention them, and always check to see if her supplies need to be re-filled, so she does not have to ask.

Because my mother never used tampons, and for some reason thought virgins should not use them she never offered to buy them for me,
she also didn't discuss these things with me so it made me feel like it was dirty. When my oldest daughter was 9, I told her everything she
needed to know about what was going to happen to her body (when she wasn't to grossed out to listen) then when I saw her developeing
I told her, you are going to start your peroid this summer, and I was right. Not only did she start when I thought she would, it was the same day as mine!
I bought her Pads, panty liners and the slender tampons, I had told her where they go and how to use them, to take a mirror and look.
She was not comfortable with the tampons at first, but she , on her own time figured it out. So now she dosen't miss pool partys, going to the beach. like I did.
When she started, she came right up to me and showed me her underwear, I failed to tell her it wasn't going to look like blood the first time, so she was like "look, whats up with this?" I was so happy she felt so comfortable with me.And she didn't have to walk down to the convience store at 12 to buy her own tampons because she was too embarrassed to ask her mom.
