it seems to me that in the past large flashes of "new light" have come when the governing body was backed into a corner.
for example the multiple re-defining of what a generation is until it ended up the ridiculous "overlapping" meaning.. what is the reason this time?
are they worried because the number of partakers has been going up?
New light justifies their existence. Without new light, we could feasibly just study the same publications over and over and over. This way the publishing house stays in business.
Another possible explanation is that they are making this religion up as they go. Once it becomes apparent that the doctrine they were previously teaching could not possibly be true, they have to come up with an excuse - new light or progressive revelation.
when i was a kid, i researched the origins of the religion and realized that the witnesses were an offshoot of adventism.....we're you surprised to learn something about the witnesses that you didn't realize?.
I was shocked when I read of all the scandals such as Mexico/Malawi and the UN, but what I was most surprised to learn was how wrong we were on doctrines such as the blood issue, holidays, judicial committees, etc. I also came to realize that we consistently go above and beyond what is written and have put the Bible on equal level as the Bible, the governing body on equal level with Jesus.
i have been encouraging my mom to cook with coconut oil, it does help with her dementia symptoms sometimes.
it is just not safe for people with dementia to use knives for cooking, thats why i need some recipe ideas.

since i have stopped attending meetings i have realized that there are alot of good t.v.
shows that i have missed as well as channels that i would not watch because they would no doubt be in opposition to the scriptures(har har).. .
i have been watching the history channel and the discovery channel so much over the last few months that it is amazing.

Children need our protection. Everyone needs to think of the children first.

so since we have not been to a meeting in 6 months or so, i decided to ask my daughter (on the way home from cheerleading practice - yeah i can't believe i am letting her engage in such a worldly activity lol) if she misses going to the kingdom hall.

don't really post here much, mostly just lurk around.
so here's just backstory: in 2012, after about half a year of research i decided to leave the organization.
We have several members of our family that just quit cold turkey two plus years ago. The rumor has it that we are apostate. they have left us alone and are afraid of us.
I will never give them the dignity of a letter or a JC meeting, they do not have my respect anymore than the priest at the local Catholic Church has. They are mid level cult leaders, after all.
