The facts are very good. I would definately soften this up. This is to your mother who is a woman, very emotional being, very emotional topic. I would edit out anything that sounds angry and go the Ray Franz route. Be sad and disappointed. That is how I have been with my family members who all know about my feelings. Keep working on it and share the final draft with us, please. Enjoyed your post and understand where you are coming from.

Welcome to Jakeyen. Warning: This JWN is addictive. I have learned more about JW from this website than I did the whole 40 years I was in.

Awake!: For Idiots - Or Just Written By Them?
by metatron ingood grief!.
how dumb can this future landfill waste magazine get?
take a look at the march issue, "five keys to better health".

whathappened
I had to laugh at last years assembly. They brought out again how we shouldn't be overly concerned about our health. I looked around and saw the disabled sections full, the grossly obese people sitting in every row and thought "we should be giving more attention to our health." All the folks in our hall are on meds for every kind of illness, especially depression and anxiety ( i wonder why?).

These two movies are currently in theaters but they are really good. I saw both of them and can't stop telling people how good "127 Hours is and the new adam sander/jen anniston movie "just go with it." Both were extremely entertaining.

My mom is 85 years old/baptised for 50 plus years. When shown the photos of Russells pyramid memorial and the line in the finished mystery where is says Russell will continue to direct the society from "beyond the viel" she simply said "I'm too old to change religions now." She continues on. I however, at 56 have suffered enormously physically and emotionally. I used to say "if this isn't the truth, I don't want to live." Since finding out my whole life has been based on lies, I find myself busting out crying. I am under stress and don't know what I believe or how to believe anymore. I worry that even though my daughter says she's not going to shun me that she will change her mind in the future.
The point is, it may be the kinder thing not to say anything to the older folks, since it's really not going to alter the rest of their lives that much. It sounds good that if we could get our elderly to accept the real truth about the Watchtower Society, that it would give us some satisfaction, but maybe that's a selfish motive. I don't know. I'm not going to push it with my mom. The younger loved ones, yes, yes, yes.

Need advise... again...
by Expanded-Mind ingood morning.... on jan 3rd i posted that my son had recently contacted me and that i needed advice.
well, i need advice... again.... i have been very cautious about speaking with my son (a jw) about anything religious and have even been careful about talking with my daughter-in-law (who is catholic) about religion, but in a conversation i had with her a couple of weeks ago we had our first "real" conversation which included talking about why i left the jws and learning more about her faith and perspectives.
i did not intend to get into "religion" with her, but it was the normal flow of the conversation, since she is a very devout and active catholic and through her own reading before we even talked she had come to the conclusion that the watchtower is a cult (her words).

I, too think the reason your son is behaving this way is because of something deeper. What's on the surface is not always the root of the matter. Something has happened, either real or imagined. I would try to get to the root of this matter and try to clear this up. Be humble, even if you haven't done anything wrong. Perhaps your daughter in law can ask some penetrating questions to your son and find out for you. If she is interested in healing this wound, she will be your greatest allie.

Brother Dan, what's going on in the past couple of weeks with your mother in law? I have been doing youtube. There are so many fabulous videos on YouTube on JW dirty laundry and it is most entertaining. Some of them use humor and when you use humor, it doesn't make it seem so dark and scary.

Captives of a Concept
by Mickey mouse inwhat a fantastic book!
i really enjoyed it.
i loved the way don cameron refused to get bogged down with arguing for an alternative scriptural interpretation to the witnesses.

whathappened
I just finished reading Captives of a Concept and enjoyed every word of it. It truly will convince anyone who has lingering doubts about JW's being Jehovah's visible earthly organization that it simply cannot possibly be so. It is an easy, quick read with the highlights of the book written in bold print along the sides of the pages so you can quickly find what you want.

How credible is the wt claim to be chosen by Christ in 1919.
by coffee_black ini brought this up to debator on another thread... and he/she ignored it... thought the subject deserved its own thread...for anyone who has never read the finished mystery.. .
the watchtower claims that jesus inspected the churches in 1919 and chose the watchtower to represent god on earth, based upon the spiritual food they were dispensing at that time.. .
note:.
