i was after any advice or suggestions about how to support a friend who was born and raised in the truth, my friend is now 22 and has tried to fade out but his parents are having a hard time accepting this, don't get me wrong i understand why they are, but the stress and pressure he is under is taking it's toll on him.. i have tried to be there for him as i use to study with the jehovah witness's some years ago but i don't think i can or will ever truly understand what it's like to be born into a family of jehovah witness, i understand why his parents are shunning him and they only talk to him when they think they have come up with away to get him to go back to truth.. .
i would like to hear any real life exsperances and how you where there and helped a friend deal with leavign the truth and accepting that your family will most likely never going to talk to you again.. .

Tell him to approach it on an emotional level. Remember, they truly believe he is commiting certain suicide by leaving the organisation, as Jehovah will soon destroy all who appose him. (apposing Jehovah and apposing the Watchtower Society seen as the SAME THING!) They love him and are practicing tough love. It isn't easy for them to shun him.
He needs to ask them how he is supposed to cope with finding out the Society is not God's organisation, humbly explaining the whys and how.

Yes, I have had major problems adjusting to the fact that there will be no everlasting life on a paradise earth. That is the teaching they use to hook you with. People will definitely do a lot to get in on this deal of never dying. Now that I know that the Watchtower Society is wrong about just about everything, I'm really glummer.
I am getting over it as time goes by. We just need to go on with what we have left and not let the past control how we live the rest of our lives. Learn to be happy. Make up your mind to be as happy as you possibly can.

There would definitely be some hard feelings between me and the offensive shunning JW friends and relatives. I doubt they will ever drop the evil, hateful practice. Too many lives have been damaged due to this ridiculous policy.
on the news this morning was the almost unbelievable news that a pakistani husband and wife killed their daughter for 'looking at a boy'.
her manner of being killed is even more shocking as the parents poured acid on this girl.. there were 943 'honor killings' reported in pakistan this year with only 20 of the women being given any medical care before they died.. looking at the opposite sex.
one of the most natural responses we have as humans is construed as 'sin' and with it all of the religious and social prejudices that can and do lead to tragedy.. some day these cultures, bound by religious myths and superstitions, will change with education and understanding but it seems a long way off, to distant to have saved this young girl.. as the father of a daughter who i would protect at all costs this just leaves me shaken and i wonder how to reach those young people so they don't grow up to be like their parents..
Religion has such a disastrous hold on some people. This story made me sick. What is with these people?
i have always been taught that jehovah god never changes his mind and he always carries out what he predicts.
then a friend of mine who is atheist showed me a scripture in the bible that caught me totally off guard.
it is in the book of jeremiah.
The bible is confusing and it leads some to question the authority of the bible. If it is ambiguous, how is a righteous person to decide what god really meant? Why didn't god make it unmistakeable if it is so important?

The number of branch offices used to be a bragging point and evidence of "Jehovah's blessing." Now, I guess new light is saying it it closing the branches in order to use "theocratic funds" judiously. They are spin doctoring again.

Yes, Splash. Those that don't remain in the teachings of Christ and the Apostles can be shunned. Jehovah's Witnesses do fall into this group as they have pushed ahead and are teaching things that Jesus and the Apostles never instructed them to do. The Bible is very clear on this. They should not be teaching things that go above and beyond what the scriptures say. The Watchtower does this in every issue. It's a shame. I am embarrassed to ever have been associated with Jehovah's Witnesses & the Watchtower Society.
i have only just recently found this site, in fact only recently gone online to do research of my own about jws.
before i left i had only gone on my gut instinct, not even realising i was not alone with my feelings.
the week i was appointed an elder some 11 years ago, i had had to write to a congregation many miles away from me about how unloving they were (more details below).. not long after i started to have concerns about jws, expecially as the message of 'following the bibles message' subtly changed to 'follow the fds', this did not sit well with me.
