Why Evolution is True - Jerry Coyne
God's Problem - Bart Ehrman
The God Delusion - Christopher Hitchens
The Greatest Show on Earth - Richard Dawkins
i am a fan of anything wts hates, like smurfs and birthdays, clinking glasses in a toast, exchanging gifts on december 25th.
i have never really been the person to set new year's resolutions, but it is something wts would not like.. anyway, i used to read blondie's comments on the wt study article.
i remember how it kept me mad at wts to read such stupid stuff from them.

Off course she has every right to be skeptical. No problem at all. However, I also have every right to point out the short-comings in her skeptical attitude.
The information is accessible. The producer is watching the posts on the newspaper article, like I pointed out earlier. If someone wants to get involved, then contact him. It's not rocket science. IF somebody is interested and has the means to invest, then they will get the same presentation that every other investor gets.
Nor am I trying to guilt her into handing me, nor anybody else, a penny. I am merely pointing out where she missed the point.
Defensive? Fucking right! I was the one that was basically called a chalatan by someone that does not have all the facts. She didn't even bother to ask one simple question.
Skeptical? Skeptics search for answers. She was just judgmental. There is a difference.

The project does not have an online presence outside of the (local) media stories about the producer.
BTW, I told Rebel to "shut up" under very specific circumstances: when she doesn't have any knowledge of the facts. Perhaps asking questions instead of avering would be a wiser course of action in such a situation.
Also, I totally agree that critical thinking is important. It is the life-blood of free thought. If you want to exercise your skepticism, then by all means, ask questions to the producer. The link is above, he monitors the posts.
A true skeptic would have asked some very salient questions, two of which are: Do you have a financial interest in the movie being made? If not, why not?
I do not have any financial interest in the movie. I think that it would be beneficial to have the story told. I don't invest because I am a student and am busy investing in myself at the moment.

What evidence do you want? If you have some money to invest, step forward, read the script. If you like it, then fine, if you don't, then shuffle along.
This is no emotional plea. If you wish to be a part of something, and have the money to put into a very high risk situation, then you will be rewarded (spiritually for sure, monetarily perhaps).
You have no clue what you're talking about regarding the story (compelling or not) nor do you have a clue regarding the amount of money that has already been invested from other sources. Perhaps it is best to keep your mouth shut when you are light on actual facts.
Besides, the money has absolutely nothing to do with me, I just know the story. And the reality is that, without further investment the script will be sold and turned into something completely different (as is often the case with scripts).
Do you know what makes me itch? Mediocre thought processes.

Itch away.
The reality is that money makes things happen.
The reality is also that production on this movie is stalled.
The reality is that an investment of the right amount would allow this story to be told.
It's a shame that reality makes you itch.

Truth be told, the making of this movie is in jeopardy. There is a lack of money available for the production costs.
Alex is looking for someone, or perhaps a group of people, to stand up and help with the finances. The script is very good, in my opinion. I actually teared up when I read it.
This venture could very well turn out to be quite profitable, especially since there are many ex-JW around who would be interested. On top of that, the story is a classic story of choices and pressures. It would appeal to a wider audience for sure.
my last visit to kingdom hall was on memorial day.
since then i have decided skip to meetings and preaching.
the co and his wife visited my congo in the last week of april.
When you're talking to her, just hang your head and say "I know" a lot. She'll eventually move on.
hey everybody, i'm in the middle of an ongoing debate w/some jws and they are asserting that everyone knows what they're getting into when they are studying and getting baptized and that nobody forces anyone to become a jw and that you can leave anytime you want.
ok, we know that's not true.
how would you counter that argument?
Of course you can leave any time that you want, BUT....
If your family is in, they will all ignore you once you leave...
If you have come in from the outside, they have encouraged you to leave all your old friends behind....
If you leave, all your new friends will find you distasteful. The most common complaint that I hear from those that leave is the trials in making new friends. However, the friends that they do make are more loyal and are not fairweather friends, on the whole.
there is going to be another public reading of the script for the movie, "blood" in brantford, ontario.. .
anybody who can make it out should.
support this process so this movie can be made.
I will post some publicity and media as they become available.
