I see Chess is on the list. I was told Chess was wrong because it was a "war game."
I was a member of several congregations (in Saskatchewan and Alberta) where brothers were not allowed to wear colored shirts.

i wanted to make a dramatic video to remind jw's to be faithful in what is least.. i need as many things as possible, each will only get a few seconds each but it will speed up until the things arent visable to the naked eye and it will end with a spining grinning satan head.
huh, i know it's nuts but trust me it wil work.. these are the types of things i'm looking for.
april fools day.

on december 10, 2010, appearing in our local newspaper was an article titled, social science palooza, written by columnist, david brooks.
"every day, hundreds of thousands of scholars study human behavior.
every day, a few of their studies are bundled and distributed via e-mail by kevin lewis, who covers the social sciences for the boston globe and national affairs.
JWs are TOLD they have the truth and never to doubt for a minute, or Satan will find an "in" --- the basis of FEAR.
If they dared to doubt, their entire world would crumble, they would lose all their friends and family if they got disfellowshipped. FEAR
At all costs, they must prove to themselves that their doubts are NOT valid. FEAR
They must prove to themselves that they have the truth, just as they have been told. FEAR
The must prove that they do not doubt because they are loyal to the organization and to Jehovah.FEAR
They must prove that they are not Apostates.FEAR
All part of the brainwash.
It's circular.

so my ex who has gone back to the wts and is being given the tough love and is questioning whether shes makin the right move.
she told me at the last service meeting that there was a resolution passed that stated that all leftover balances in the congregations accounts would be sent to the society to be used where the need is great, to help out with natural disasters etc and that the funds would be sent back to the congregation if they needed it.. has anyone else who is still in or knows active witnesses heard of this new resolution?
apparently its everywhere in canada as far as i was told .. .
Hi Outlaw,
I appreciateluuuuuuurve the humor in your posts.
Nice to see (above) a BOE who refused to go along. I agree, they might get into trouble for their refusal. Might be viewed as subversive or rebellious in not following directives.
I recall back in the 70s a proposal was made to mortgage all bought-and-paid-for kingdom halls, and send the money to the WT for "kingdom advancement." We had a paid-for KH. Everyone in the audience put up their hand to vote yes to a morgage. We had many old-timers living off meager pensions, since they had no "other" retirement income. (Some of the old-timers had refused to pay into company pensions "because the end was near." But that's another story.)
Needless to say, it created a hardship to repay a mortgage.
Anybody else remember this?

well things have changed big time for me.
on the 3rd of dec. finally, i have left my work at bethel and moved almost 500 kilometres away to a new life.. some of you were aware of my work in a european branch, and have kept my confidence.
for this i am eternally grateful...you know who you are.. the huge weight that has been taken off my shoulders is both a comfort and a relief.. when i settle into my new home properly, i intend to write some memoirs of life at the branch, hoping that others will find it of interest.. for now my future is for the first time uncertain and that makes it very very exciting, but i am no longer under the control of others yay!!.
Looking forward to your memoirs!

my wife and i have read carefully through chapter 5 of the new elders manual when we do our " personal study " in bed on saturday mornings !
so without further delay , notice this quote from the new elders manual, " there are times when an emotionally distressed christian may seek professional help.
whether a christian or his family pursues treatment from psychiatrists , psychologists, or therapists is a personal decision.
When congregation members find themselves depressed, the elders often will advise against therapy. If the member goes for therapy anyway, and happens to tell the therapist, "My spiritual advisors told me not to get therapy." ... well, it makes the elders look bad, in my humble opinion.
When I got depressed as a congregation member back in the 90s because of memories of abuse, I was told, "No one looking behind the plow is well-suited for the kingdom."
Can you feel the love?

i wanted to dedicate this posts to just talking about the emotional scars we all have had or maybe still have.
was there a gap of time between you thinking you didn't want to continue and actually, consciously, deciding to no longer continue as on of jws?
it's amazing to me the strong hold this religion puts on you.
For Satinka!...FEAR...is Fake...Evidence...Appearing...Real...GET IT??? If you don't, I'ed be more than happy to explain just what that means...because there is more to words than YOU may know. DISEASE...Dis-Ease (Not-at-Ease)....ILLNESS...I..Lack..Love NAMASTE! KEN
Yes, Ken...I know that now. But I didn't know that back in 2000, when I got disfellowshipped. Thanks for caring.

this post is to expose the unethical, un-scriptural actions of the men involved in the "judicial" processes of jehovah's witneses.
the lack of fair minded impartial justice shown to me during my "judicial" case is a result of what they (the elders) are directed to do by the governing body of jehovah's witnesess.
many people have been through similar and will do again in the future, sadly.
In my experience it was all about keeping up appearances... don't want to bring reproach on God and all that.
It is easy for some elders to disfellowship first and ask questions later, saying, "Oh, well. We are not responsible. They are disfellowshipped."
Not at all how Jesus would have done things, in my humble opinion.

do you feel that something has changed within god's organization?
have you noticed that in the past several years there has been a more authoritarian spirit displayed in the publications and from the platform?
i am in the beginning stages of a fade away and wanted to express my thoughts.
The conditioning goes deep...to the core. It took me two years to peer into an "Apostate" website such as this one, when I was first disfellowshipped.
Glad I had a good therapist or I would not have survived.

Fear was my big one. It took me two years of being df'd before I could log on to an "Apostate" site like this one.
Then I was waiting for a lightning bolt to strike me...Didn't happen, though.
Reading Crisis of Conscience helped me get a healthier perspective on the workings of the organization.
Glad I had a good therapist who knew about how cults operate.
