I feel so guilty
by Leander inthese past few weeks i've spent a lot of time trying to decide how i want to proceed with the rest of my life.
one of my first decisions to carry out is to break free from the wts.
even though i've been a life long witness i feel no guilt or hesistation in leaving the only religion i've ever known.

Leander,
I have walked a similar path as you. In the beginning of my unraveling from the JW religion, I wanted to scrap it all too. I ended up scrapping some things but holding onto others.Whatever you decide, I wish you well.

Silliest thing that Witnesses told you was wrong?
by gilwarrior inthere are two things.
in the early and mid 80s there were witnesses saying that the cartoon characters the smurfs were not acceptable for witnesses.
i had two smurf cartoon books and my mother made me throw them away.

...that you are in fact *associating* with the characters on TV during the time you watch the shows they are in! ...or the songs they sing... or the movies they act in... or, or... (1 Cor 15:33)
...that you should pray silently so satan and the deeminz couldn't possibly learn of/know your weaknesses.
but, but, what about if they eavesdrop on my conversations or watch my body language closely? You know they've been studying humankind for thousands of years!

Thoughts....
by somebody ingood evening all, .
this is just some more "stuff" printed in the kingdom ministry by the jesus-led incorporated printing business, for all the publishers who work for them and contribute to making them worth multi-millions to read and follow before attending an assembly/convention.. 5/99/ km.
lately, building managers and food vendors in the facilities where our conventions are held have observed some brothers leaving the auditorium to purchase food from street vendors and fast-food establishments nearby.

If this were permitted, many worldly people would be mixing in company with us during the day.
I knew it! I used to have a very deep *us* vs *them* perspective as a JW. It's these sorts of quotes that make me realize exactly how the organization molds the thinking of its followers—especially those who don't know any other belief system outside the Truth™.
It took some time before I was able to break down that division in my mind and see everybody as just people.
Thanks for the thoughts, somebody. It's great to see these things from a new objective view.

Outnfree,
Congratulations! I am very happy and excited for you! Ever since I started taking classes I've realized how much I enjoy learning and expanding my knowlege base in various subjects. I know you will too!Keep in mind—if your cc's summer courses are like the ones I've taken, you will probably complete the semester in half the time of a regular semester by doubling up on the hours/work. IOW, one class will feel like two. I enrolled in 3 this summer... 2 is considered a full-time load. Fall and Spring semesters are stretched out for 16 weeks.
Andi,
Go for it! When I worked for a company that had a similiar set-up with paying tuition I was able to scope out a few career paths and figure out what I really had a passion for. If you ever find yourself in a situation where you have to pay for your own tuition, you'll *wish* that you made the most of your current opportunity. You can always try something out, and if it's not for you, find something else.Kristen

What is the procedure one must go through (in the state of IL) to obtain a divorce when no children are involved? For those of you have gone through the experience, do you have any particular advice?
Thanks for your help.
