this is the second article i've seen in the past year about bright witness kids going to regular colleges.
(the other one was about twin brothers down in florida, i believe.
Times have changed in many areas it seems. And soon they'll deny ever discouraging anyone from going to college too. Now I can understand why old magazines are so valuable! History has a funny way of rewriting itself in the organization.

yesterday, my six year old figured out that a birthday is a celebration of your day of birth.
i didn't realize she hadn't made that connection yet (she's a bit fuzzy headed sometimes, but cute as can be).
then she states, "so when you get presents for a baby bfore it is born, that is the babies first birthday".
That is an interesting thought Angie...
But of course, you will know there will be some kind of "rational" explanation about why it's okay to have baby showers, and wedding anniversaries, and bridal showers, and eternity wedding bands, and... and...

in response to my "emotional bankruptcy" thread that i. posted here, and there as well.. it's a gift because it was just the kick in the ass that i needed.. the perfect reminder of why i am not only happy, but relieved.

When you take the time to smell the roses, you will notice so many beautiful things. And even though roses have thorns, the beauty of the rose itself overshadows its sometimes pricklyness.
He also made me realize that I've been spending entirely too much time worrying about the past, and things that I cannot change.
Which is a large truth in all of our lives... but the one thing I do sometimes get out of reflection is wisdom for the days coming. We learn so much from our own past lives, but alas sometimes we got to watch out that it doesn't swallow us up entirely.
I'm so sad that you are striken with MS. But am so inspired that despite it, you have so much life in you, and have added so much to ours.

I began detowering in 1995. Since then I've noticed that I go through cycles. At times I'm very interested in JW issues and want to discuss and research them. At other times, I just want to push it all away and forget I ever was a JW.

Two very powerful thoughts. The first one is what motivates me to live. I've lost virtually everyone I've ever been close to in my life. But now I have room for so many more real relationships built upon a foundation of mutual love and respect. Casting away the inner measurements of judgementalism has freed my soul and opened my eyes to a whole new world of ... people.
The second thought is something I struggle with each day. Not being fullly extracted from the JW situation keeps many things dangling in my mind each day. I imagine it could feel more liberating if I were totally cut off physically and mentally from it, but the timing for me isn't right. I'm just not ready to say goodbye forever to my parents, which is what it mostly boils down to. What kind of life is this to even have to make that choice?
I'm sorry you are having a rough day. ((((((((HUGS)))))))) I've been spending more time emotionally and physically recharging over the last few days. It gets to all of us at times. I hope tomorrow is better for you.

i am writing this to inform the people of chilliwack of a plague that seems to affect well-groomed, articulate individuals living in our fair city.. many months ago we posted a sign on our front door that says "no soliciting' due to the fact that the sanctity of our home was constantly being invaded by individuals seeking to save us, sell us something or wanting money or some kind of donation.
There were other signs that read "No Canvassing". We were told that houses with those signs should be left alone. We were also told that the "No Soliciting" sign didn't apply to us–but often had the householder point to that sign while we tried selling our mags to them. I remember feeling the same thing about not wanting to disturb those people. Actually, I didn't want to disturb ANYONE!

I agree, It hurts very much.
My whole life has revolved around meeting nights and theocratic weekends. I was jipped out of my childhood and have grown up lacking normal social skills.
I've "lost" some family members because they feel I've left God. Until I "come back" I am not worth their time. My lifelong friends no longer keep in touch. My husband is still a believer, and my heart is torn in two. There is a certain lonliness within as I long to share my whole true self with someone who accepts/understands where I'm at. When you are at odds with your spouse it truly sucks.
