Re-inventing oneself
by flower inthat is the question of the day.
i never thought i would say this but it was almost a safe, comfort, to be able to define myself as an df'd exjw who is just muddling through life until the new system comes and destroys me along with all the other wicked people.
its just who i was ya know?

Flower,
I read FreePeace's article some time ago and found it helpful to my own situation. Please take a look at it.You may find that re-inventing yourself will be a joyous prospect. I too decided to go to school after thinking about something I reallly enjoyed being part of. If you have the inclination, I say go for it!
You smiled for the first time... I can almost assure you that many more will follow if you just be you. Listen to yourself.
Take care,
KristenHappy New Year!

Worried about my Dad in hospital :(
by Simon inwe visited angharad's parents at the weekend and got a call on sunday night from her sister who'd been called by my sister as they hadn't been able to contact us .... the message was not a happy one:.
my dad has had a heart attack and was in intensive care in hospital.. it was a while before i managed to speak to anyone over there with people probably out but i eventually spoke to his wife who says he's doing ok and has now been moved to the main ward but is being kept in as you would expect.
he may have to be moved to calgary for some investigation / tests.. he had heart surgery about 15 years ago and i think 4 of his 5 bypasses have failed so he has to take quite a bit of medicine for pain and stuff.

Funniest Local Needs Talk
by metatron intrue story.
a new england congregation had to have a "local needs".
talk on why brothers shouldn't be going to topless bars.

I remember one local needs part that focused on the evils of playing a certain video game (Mortal Combat). Seems that it was popular among some of the teenage boys in the congregation, and by the end of the talk it was clear that the game was *not* for Christians.
Kind of silly to use a talk from the platform to push a personal opinion like that. Not to mention how embarrassing it is to the people involved.

Today is the first day of the rest of your life, you miss 100% of the shots you never take, look before you leap, stop caring about what other people think, live for love, and just be you.

College
by mikepence ini am thinking about starting to take some courses, working toward my degree.
i would appreciate some feedback.. on the one hand, i have made a successful career for myself as a highly paid computer professional, working for a variety of prominent companies here in the usa over the last 12 years.
this, in spite of not going to college for reasons that you all understand.. to date, the only companies that cared that i did not have a degree, once i had a few years experience, were companies that worked with universities and higher education products.

Mike,
Go for it! There's nothing like having someone else foot the tuiton bill. And books can be quite expensive too. When you take classes for subjects that actually interest you, it can be quite fun.JT, I'll bet you get a "G" on your report card for that speech class!
