New Board members within the last 1 year.....

i can't believe the amount of new posters this board is getting.

it seems as if every day there are at least 2 to 3.. if you are a new poster, what made you decide to stop lurking and start posting?

how many of us are there that have joined in the last year?.

I joined because I kept reading so many threads on here that resonated with me. I felt like I NEEDED to talk to someone about what I was learning and contrary thoughts that I've had long before I came to this forum. There hasn't really been a specific "event."

When I was at the Ministerial School, the talk about education really got under my skin...but I'm not sure that it was the reason I begin lurking here, and eventually joined. I can't think of anything else that happened at a meeting lately that "urked" me.

last week, i told you i was going to tell my daughter that i was leaving the truth this weekend and you all gave me sound advice.

but, i cannot keep a secret this heavy from the person i love most on this earth, my only daughter, who is beautiful inside and out.. well, i have always had an open and honest relationship with my daughter, and i guess it paid off.

this weekend i visited my daughter (who lives in another state) and i told her i was leaving "the truth.

Could ''boredom'' at the Kingdom Hall be one reason why some members leave?

you'll find boredom where there is the absence of a good idea earl nightingale quotes (us motivational writer and author, 1921-1989).

let's forget that most members leave due to the wrong beliefs,doctrines and practices of the wts!.

i was bored out of my mind from the repetitive: talks,prayers,ministry school demonstrations,field service talks(peddle magazines),assemblies,special talks and watchtower magazine study articles.

We also had a CO stop and order a mother with a screaming kid to leave the auditorium. This was actually at the Kingdom Hall though. The worst part was, she was someone's Bible Student, and the kid had autism. What an asshole....

People (My wife included), are frequently suprised by my ability to give last minute TMS and Service Meeting Parts "off the cuff." I told my wife one time that, "it's just the same crap I've been hearing my entire life, what's so hard about that?"

This thread is awesome, and really struck a chord with me.

I've been inspired to do something new to stimulate my mind at the next few meetings: I'm going to keep a tally of how many times the "Faithful and Discreet Slave" is honored by name versus how many times Jesus or Jehovah are honored by name. I already know it will be skewed beyond anything sensible, but it'd be interesting to be able to work that statistic into an upcoming public talk just to remind the "friends" who it is we actually are supposed to be worshipping.

PSacramento, How does your view pair with the scriptures in Ecclesiasties and Psalms about the condition of the dead - "conscience of nothing" ... "in that day their thoughts do perish"....etc....?

Chalam, I firmly believe that the Trinity is not a Biblical teaching, just for your reference. If you had read the whole Gospel from start to finish without ever having been taught that concept, you would never have picked up that Jesus was equal to God. The Gospel is loaded with verses that point out Jesus' inferiority to God. He himself mentions it several times.

I had considered that before: The scriptures that indicate that heaven will possibly be on Earth. This is the reason why I mentioned there may be some general translation issue or misunderstanding about the interchangability of the words "Heaven" and "Paradise" in the Bible. You would think that if there were actually two different hopes for salvation, they would both be mentioned in the same scripture so that the reader could draw on the clear difference between them. I don't know of such a scripture.

I apologize for insulting you, and in no way meant to encourage other forum members to join in an attack on your dignity.

You posted this my initial thread:

Stay in the Watchtower Corporation. Cowards who want others to fight their fights do not deserve real freedom.

I really felt bullied by this insult to any current poster who is "on the fence", and subsequent posts I read of yours within threads I had commented on seemed abusive and disrespectful to me. If you agree that this was not their original intent, then I will redact my challange of your character. No doubt, anyone would understand that this is a highly emotional time in my life, and I felt the need to put my foot on the ground and defend myself from being cast as an idiot.

In my own defense, and for what it's worth, maybe you could consider being less abrasive in some of your posts (since you seem to be somewhat known for it), especially those that relate to a newcomer to the forum. I feel that people who come here (especially me) are looking for acceptance and an open environment to express themselves, because they do not find this to be the case within in organzization that claims to "love" them.

People don't need to be insulted in order to "wake up," as you also mentioned was your aim in that post. They need facts, reasoning ability, and most importantly, time. I've been programmed by The Watchtower since birth. A couple of radical (althouh well-meaning) forum posts will not automatically undo that. Please forgive me if that seems naive on my part, it's just my opinion.

I respect IMMENSELY, honesty and straigh-forwardness when they are paired with taste and tact. I'm sure that I will learn to appreciate your "style" the longer I am here, so don't feel like I would view you as an opponent for the future of my membership here. That would not be the case. I also hope that you would not view me that way.

Not that it is any of my business, but I encourage you not to let this prevent you from sharing your story. I did not read the first section before I made that post yesterday and it had no bearing on my comments whatsoever. I can't say the same for anyone else who posted adversely about your character.

Jesus Christ....all of this in a simple thread about "Window Washing"!

I never would have imagined that two posts of mine could start a virtual "Civil War" on this forum. I was merely trying to bring farkel back down the Earth. (no offense to farkel....see my formal apology in another thread)

Obviously, none of us has the power to do anything about the situation at hand. So, isn't it best that we just bury it and let it go? It won't further any progress in this community by hashing-out and rehashing-out accusations and fault.

This whole thing has gone totally crazy.
