How did plants survive the Flood?
by dgp innoah is not said to have carried plants in his ark.
supposedly the flood was severe enough to cover "even the tallest mountains", which would mean that mount everest was covered.
and this for forty days.

Bats in the Belfry,
Jesus used illustrations and hyperboles so people could draw some lessons... the illustration of the man who tore down his grain stores to build larger ones...the slaves in the parabol of the mines or the drag net and even the slave that can either be faithful and discreet or evil...does it make those characters real? Did they ever exist? The answer is no.
From the point of view of the man who recorded the account, the deluge may have been universal, but in light of today's evidence, this no longer stands.

Is the "Watchtower Study" = Question and answer a form of brainwashing??
by Witness 007 inon sundays study we were always told to keep answers brief and from the paragraph as some brothers would add "other meterial" to their comments.
the "correct" answer is right there in the paragraph.
read question --------find answer in paragraph------underline/highlight------read related {not] scripture-----raise hand---give answer from paragraph as though it's your own thought.

I remember a few years back when we studied the WT that discussed the new light on blood fractions...one older super zealous sister said that fractions shouldn't be acceptable because they are taken from donated blood and Jehovah forbids us to give blood...if all people were JWs there would be no blood to extract fractions from...longgggggggggg silence...let's take another comment...
The sad reality is that some are able to see that something is wrong with the WT reasoning but they are trained to wait on Jehovah to clarify anything that doesn't add up. The matter even gets burried deep inside their memory and the abondance of "spiritual" food clutters their mind, distracting them from the real issues. That's why the society wants you to read your WT when you received it, prepare the study at home and read it again at the meeting....

What people learn in school and university from manuals and textbooks are usually proven points or written according to established rules such as grammar, vocabulary, mathematics, geography, chemestry, astronomy, all of it having being proven by experiment and when something is a theory it is treated as such. Even literature is categorized into life stories, fiction, science fiction, mythology, history...with the WT everything is considered as coming from God whether it makes sense or not and the only object of your "study" is for you to conform. There is no room for reasoning, testing, experimenting or debating...this has all been taken care for you. Like at a restaurant...you may feel you are free to eat anything you want...but in the end the chef decides what's on the menu.

When the book study was cancelled elders in my congregation arbitrarely moved the Tuesday night MS & S Meeting to Wednesday night because they felt that there were too many days without a meeting from Tuesday to Sunday and that it would be beneficial to move the meeting one day later to balance the week! Some part time workers had to change their work schedule since they usually worked on Wednesday night. Likewise I travel a lot for work and I used to schedule my business trips after the Tuesday night meeting and now I could no longer attend most Wednesday nights....The other congregation using our hall didn't make any changes....they didn't have a meeting between Sunday to Thursday...I guess they didn't need a balanced week. In my opinion, elders wanted one more night to prepare their meeting parts...who cares about others.

JWs say the deluge must be real because Jesus makes mention of the Flood and Noah's days...I tell my grandson stories about the boy who cried wolf and Pinnochio...they are just stories containing a lesson...nonetheless these event never happened. By the way, where did Jesus say the deluge was universal?

Is Job 1:4 regarding a birthday party
by jwfacts ini have heard it stated before that job 1:4 is referring to job celebrating his children's birthdays.
others have claimed this is not the case.
does anyone have a good explanation of what this scripture is referring to?.

In the first reference quoted by AnonJW we find the question: Did Job's children observe birthday? No...what is descibed in the verses may not be a birthday celebration...but should we automatically assume they didn't celebrate birthdays simply because it is not stated in the book of Job? Just because the book of Job doesn't state they did laundry, would we assume they never washed their clothes? If the book doesn't say that they bathed would we assume they didn't wash?

My first bit of unsolicited Anti-Witnessing
by Open mind ini recently crossed the line into hard-core......... a - p - o - s - t - a - s - y !
i approached a guy who was sitting alone at a table in a restaurant and discreetly, briefly gave him one example of why jws are a heartless, high-control religion.
ok, rewind the tape.

I have been involved in the same business for 30 years and all my work associates and customers pretty much know me as a JW since I have been in that religion 50 years of my life...except for the last year and a half. Now when the issue of religion comes up I let them know that I no longer suscribe to the same views as before...Taking my distances with the WT hasn't automatically changed me to a womanizer, drunk or drug addict so many are surprised. I no longer hold to the strict observance of a long list of useless rules such as raising a glass, wishing someone happy birthday or standing up during the national anthem at a sport event...As a JW I used to find my a way to avoid these situations because I felt ackward being different simply to make a statement of my "faith". I also shared with them that I haven't yet made an offical break with the JWs because I am trying to avoid being shunned by my family and friends. This usually shocks them and most will confirm that they really think I am a great guy and that I can count on their friendship...unconditionally. Sometimes we get into the reasons why I can no longer be part of this religion - mostly the doctrinal changes on blood transfusions, the overlapping generation, the misquotes of secular sources in the WT publications and all their failed prophecies. These situations make me realize how I was totally conditioned to see only see the evil and not the good in people and despite the fact the JWs say they love their neighbours, they actually hate them to the point of wishing their destruction...

WT Flip-Flops on JesusÂ’ InspectionÂ… Was it in 1918 or 1919?... Did the WT PASS or FAIL?
by Alfred inthis is utterly ridiculous.... .
the more i research this particular subject, the more flip-flops i uncover.
it seems the fds cant even make up their minds regarding what happened in 1918 (or should i say 1919?).

Outsmartthesystem: If God himself visited the man and told him the organziation was nothing more than a cult......he would say that it must have been Satan posing as God.
This is one of the most powerful statement I have read on this site! It goes back to the question used by another poster to debunk the JWs - if God wanted to tell you that you are prisoner of a cult, how would he do it? As it is now all truths filter throught the GB of the FDS and their own interpretation of the Holy Scriptures. Even when a Scripture contradicts their teaching (Rev 19:1 as an example) they have an explanation that make the R&F believe without question. Even God couldn't convince a JW that he is following men.
