Sound and attendant are great...did it both at the KHall and conventions...accounts and literature before simplification were the worst. Having to be the last to leave and being under the scrutiny of the CO who is trying to find the slightest error...got shit for sending $0.11to WWW instead of the KHall Fund...Damned pennies from kids...

New MS - Looking for the "better" job
by nochoice inlong, long time lurker and great fan of the site - first time poster.
i am not sure if i am truly a lurker since that implies i am apostate-curious.
in fact, i have been mentally out completely for a long time, but still physically in like many of you.

I was born Dec 12 and may very well celebrate for the first time in over 55 years...friends at work know that I no longer practice my JW religion and they have asked if I ever had a birthday celebration...none I can remember since my parents converted when I was 4. So what will it be? The end of the world or my first birthday party?

Loss and Loneliness
by compound complex intonight's sunset is as spectacular as any i had ever viewed from the kitchen window in my former, beloved home-sweet-home.. a tiny abode it was compared to my current habitation.
no longer within a mere four wooden walls of plain aspect and diminutive scale, i now am lost in a seeming infinite architectural spread that reaches toward earth's four points, an edifice of four expansive levels that demand i walk, climb, explore every one of thousands of hidden nooks and crannies.
i am compelled to do this but find no joy in discovery.

Cher CoCo,
Merci de partager des états d'âme avec nous. La vie moderne manque de poésie et de noblesse...mais particulièrement de temps pour apprécier les petits moments qui nous sont chers et qui comptent le plus.

Would I be in trouble?
by Pallbearer inwould i be in trouble?let's suppose that i had never stopped going to the meetings at the kingdom hall, and that i was still actively engaged in the field service.
if you were to be invited into my home you couldn't help but notice that the entire top (probably 6 foot across) of my entertainment center (a piece of furniture that holds the tv and that has glassed-in shelves on each side) is crowded with religious figurines, most of which came from the local catholic store.. .
next to that is the nativity scene that has several pieces: the wise men, the "star", the babe jesus, and joseph and mary etc.

Brother elder told my brother-in-law to get rid of his model plane collection because mostnof them were war planes...His reasoning was that Jehovah hates weapons of war and that now was his opportunity to show his love for the truth. When I heard this I told him that there is an elder in my congregation that is facinated by WWII hostory and he owns books and DVDs on this subject! It all depends on what you are willing to sacrifice to prove to this elder that you love the truth more than figurines (idols to him).

A lesson in the art of reasoning JWFacts!
I met someone like you years ago, but he was not an ex-JW. Still he and his wife knew how to use their Bible better than any JW I knew. Their reasoning was straight from the scriptures and not from a religious publication. He challenged me to prove any of my belief without a WT publication as he did. One example was about the First and the Last in Revelation...applying to both Jehovah and to Jesus Christ to prove that they are equal in being GOD as my dad and I are equal being MAN. The WT teaches that Jesus is the "first and the last" to be created directly by God since all other things were created through him. The man asked me to prove this using the Bible only. I told him I would do research in our publications but he said he would only accept discussing from the Bible. I told him I would be back - but he rightly predicted that I wouldn't. I couldn't answer any of his questions without the WT. I spoke to an elder and he told me he knew that man and said he was an opostate. Years later when I started waking up and researching the "truth", this call came back into my mind and I plan at one point to return and thank him for starting the alarm bell ring in my mind. Hopefully the witnesses that came to your door will one day remember you as I remembered him.

by NVR2L8 init's been 2 years since my last meeting and i have been avoiding all contacts with jws to stay under the radar.
i've had my brother, sister and mom visit from back home 300 miles away and except for my mom i told the others why i stopped believing in the wt's teachings.

BroMac,
This BIL was around the truth his whole life but only got involved seriously in the last decade. He has no education and the congregation makes him feel like he is somebody...now he is a fully endoctrinated zombie who even listens to kingdom melodies in his car! My goal was for him to realize he knows nothing about what the "truth" is all about...they quote the publications by heart but they never checked if what they say is true...They believe they study the Bible but they only parrot what is written in the WT. It is like in a restaurant, you may believe you are choosing what you will eat when in fact the one who wrote the menu chose for you!

I am a little late reporting how things went because I was away on my second week of vacation...a 4500 km motorcycle ride with a friend. My wife's relatives came and stayed with us for a week. They had not seen us for a few years so we heard the usual comments on how we haven't changed much except for my one week old beard. Then there was the catching up on the latest news and plans for the next few days. Every thing went well and the girls went out grocery shopping. As they were going out the door my wife's brother asked about the DC and I told him I didn't go because I stopped attending meetings 2 years ago...My wife made the comment to leave it alone, but as soon as she left the guys were curious about why I am inactive, especially since I was probably the most zealous JW in their family. I just told them that while researching various subjects for public talks I found out that the WTS was badly misquoting secular sources to make them say the opposite of what they actually mean. I said that if it was only once or twice I could see it as a mistake, but in their case it is almost always. I told them a few from the "reasoning book" where they misquote the Catholic encyclopedia in regards to the trinity...the made up statistics to support an increase in earthquakes since 1914. That lead to an interesting comments from my BIL...I asked him how could the WTS know how many earthquakes there were from JC until 1914 if no records exist? Better yet, how could anyone know how many earthquakes they were before in the Americas before they were discovered? He replied that there are more earthquakes since 1914 to which I replied that expert say there is no increase at all...even the WTS agreed with this in a recent magazine by saying that JC never said they would be more occurances...his comeback was that today we "hear" more about earthquakes than ever before because of our modern ways to communicate and that was what JC meant. At that point I realized that whatever the WTS taught before didn't matter to him even if it was all lies or bullcrap...now this is what they teach and it's the truth. I told them that deciding factor for me was when they "explained" the new meaning of generation at the 2010 DC...which is the 6th change to this teaching. JC did know how long a generation was because the destruction of Jerusalem came some 40 years after he said those words. Deer in the headlight looks from both cousin and BIL was the only reaction. I told them that all the old folks that were sitting at ice level in the arena that gave up having a career, raising kids, saving for their old days, never buying a home because the end was near would be dying off while we are slowing replacing them...Imagine what it would be like if I had listened. I wouldn't have grand children that I live for today! I mentionned 607...not a clue that historians do not support this date...BIL said that 1914 is the proof...I said 1914 was a world war as 1939. I also told them that our great WTS "scholars" didn't know there was no year 0 when they calculated the years leadind to JC kingdom...so when they found out they just pushed the date of the destruction of Jerusalem from 606 to 607...how convenient! I closed by telling them that in 1919 when JC chose them as his people they believed the time of the end started in 1799, that JC became king in 1874, that the end was going to be in 1914, then postponed to 1925 and that they even built a house for the princes that would be resurected...Beth-Sarim...they didn't know about that and I told them to do research on the WT CD...they celebrated Christmas, birthdays, used the cross....still how could JC approve them when today anyone holding these beliefs would be labelled apostate? Finally the blood issue came up since BIL had major heart surgery...he does not agree with accepting fractions...so I asked then why would the WTS make these concessions if it is wrong to collect blood or accept fractions? They could only repeat what they read in the WT publications...how bloodless surgery is so great...that there is the resurrection if you die...by that time the wifes were coming back so that was the end of our discussion. My BIL asked if they still could pray at the table before meals and I said it was OK, but they did it only once...and that was it. The rest of the visit was pleasant and it seemed like nothing at all was said. We will see in time if they avoid me in the future.

1947 Awake Says Excommunication is Unbiblical and Pagan!
by Ding injanuary 8, 1947 awake!:.
excommunication is "altogether foreign to biblical teachings.".
it's an unbiblical roman catholic teaching by which "you are looked upon with the blackest contempt... being cursed and damned with the devil and his angels.".

Do Jehovah's Witnesses know what happened to them in 1954?
by Terry in1954: the year jehovah's witnesses stopped worshiping jesus christ.
watchtower charter: http://www.jehovah.net.au/books/1945_cha..._wtbts.pdf.
did you know that from 1879 until 1954 the writings of c.t.russell, j.f.rutherford, nathan knorr and the watchtower's own charter all agreed that jesus christ was worthy of worship?.

I love Algebra!I was sent from a French grade school to an English high school so since I didn't speak much English so I sucked in literature and grammar...but I was great with numbers!
