Like the new light on the "generation" this change on who is the F&DS will occupy 4 printed lines in one of the study articles...lines that will be read in the final talk at the next district convention. People will bob their heads in approbation and soon after the final prayer say: Wasn't this the best convention yet? Jehovah gave us what we need at the appropriate time! That's it.

Disfellowshipped for reading "apostate literature"?

JW's would never consider the old WT publications as apostate even when they contain teachings that have long been replaced by "new light". Over a year ago I moved to a newer house and while we were unpacking boxes I told my wife that I no longer needed all the WT and Awake bound volumes because I had all of them in my PC...she didn't want me to part with the books until I told her that the information they contained was partly why I no longer go to the meetings...I told her that I would be labelled an apostate if I still held to some of the teaching of the past...She then agreed to let me dispose of the books as long as I kept the most recent study books...so 40 years of WT bound volumes found their way to the dumpster...so now I have fewer apostate literature on my bookshelves!

Do the elders have "clear direction" that it's ok to use an ipad at meetings?

since i saw it, i've been waiting for the first brother or sister to show up at the hall with an ipad to see what happens.
a little here and there at the conventions and assemblies.

In my congregation a brother I'm close to was using a small portable device to take notes and to access preloaded WT material including the NWT. He was told not use it because it distracted others and that scriptures should be read from the bible directly.

In my congregation there was an elder who didn't live in the assigned territory. He was assigned by the CO to help because of a shortage of elders. He never moved to our area and eventually returned to his congregation after new elders were nominated. As for the regular publisher, going to a congregation were you are not assigned is seen as a lack of obedience to the society's arrangement. Brothers cannot expect to be given special service privileges if they are not in the congregation where they reside.

by ShirleyW intheres a story in the ny daily news today that says this jw is homeless and was denied shelter after having a brief conversation with the woman who helped him with his application after he mentioned he was a jw.
her reasoning of why she denied his application was that she thought he would go door to door in the 45-unit facility!
i myself find that hilarious, he just mightve done that to get his time in!

This morning I am riding my motorcycle in remembrance of Oompa...I know he shared my passion for bikes for a while. Having survived a nasty crash he fough hard and recovered...but he couldn't recover from the harm and hardship caused by the WTS...how does one live on when the ones you love abandon you because their love for the cult is more powerful than the love they should naturally have for you...if one day my family was to chose the cult over me I don't know if I could live on. Farewell Oompa.
