Elijehovah...thanks for reminding me that I'm not God! Now someone has to remind the governing body or faithful and discrete slave or any illuminated individual who comes out with this fabulation....

Eliejehovah....Jesus' words were addressed to his apostles and it's preposterous for anyone to speculate that these words have a special meaning for an overlapping generation 2000 years later. Jesus' words were fulfilled 37 years later when Jerusalem was destroyed...within the generation of those he spoke to.

Quotes to discourage JWs from researching WT history?
by JWOP inare there any direct quotes from the watchtower's literature that discourages investigation into their past doctrines and practices?.

I can't recall ever reading something in this regard, but what better way to instill pride in your JW heritage than providing the "Proclaimers" book that is nothing else but a sanitized account of the cult's history.

Why do Jehovah's Witnesses keep track of field service hours?
by Faithful Witness ini understand that they claim to have the responsibility to preach to every corner of the earth, so they can encourage armageddon to come quickly.
(matthew 24:14 "and this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.
what rationale do they have, for keeping track of their hours and literature placements?

At the last CA I attended in 2009 the drama showed a first century elder returning home from fields service and he was recording the group's activities as he was telling his wife all about it. I had a WTF moment realizing the WTS was attempting to have us believe keeping records had its origin with the first century congregation. ..

I see two reasons: the WTS can brag about the increasing number of hours devoted to preaching the good news of the kingdom as the end is approaching and to keep the publishers active because most JWs go out in service so they can write something on the report slip. Eliminating the reporting would do away with pioneering since the qualifications are based on the number of hours pioneers spend in the ministry. Most publishers would go out once in a blue moon if any at all.

Advise needed please
by EdenOne indear forumites, i need your advise please.. i would like to write a letter to the world headquarters of the jehovah's witnesses regarding a subject that i've published an article recently.
i would like to draw the attention of the gb to said article, which i will send in print form (therefore, no attention would be drawn to the website where it was published).. naturally, because i am a jehovah's witness in good standing in the congregation and what i'll be discussing in my letter will be a dissenting view from the official doctrine/practice, i want to protect my identity and i don't want to be harassed by elders or subjected to any sort of judicial investigation.
nevertheless, i would be very interested in reading their response (if any) to my letter.. how can i do that?

Eden One...it took decades and numerous loss of lives before the WT changed their blood doctrine and allow blood fractions. They only did it in fear of liability ($$$). Letters condemning shunning will not alter a practice that empower them over the flock.

There's also a citation that says when people think they can read the Bible on their own without the help of the organization, they soon return to the old teaching of Christendom...

Grace, because of your contribution to this board I had the privilege and honor to get to meet you in person. Following our brief encounter I felt inner peace because I had finally met someone who had gone through the same emotional roller coaster for leaving the "truth", someone I connected with. You can't imagine what good you did for me especially when I realized you and I knew the same people and once used to go to the same K hall...Grace, you can still have the same effect on many...but you have to stay with us! Regardless of your decision, I know that I will remember that day forever. Merci, je vous aime.

Great question. I'm doing much better than when I first left the cult. I'm not as angry or resentful anymore because I came to realize I was only hurting myself. Instead I concentrate on doing things I enjoy and I have become more understanding and tolerant of others, including my wife and children. My wife is still active and I have learned to respect that she does not want to debate her beliefs with me and I realize that if she's ever leaves the cult it will have to come from her. I am a only a few years from retirement and I am still healthy and active playing sports with people half my age. Sometimes I wonder how my life would have been if I had not been raised in the cult but I can't change that. So I focus the priceless freedom and happiness I enjoy today.
