  JWs build KH financed with the money they donated in the first place and their free labour only to be perpetual tenants of the WT society who own the building. Then the WT can sell the building for a profit and have another one built with more free labour from their perpetual tenants. If this isn't a scam what is? Then these perpetual tenants lease their assembly hall, the one they built for free and paid for with their donations...I guess it is too much to ask where all that money goes...all we should do is to shut up and keep donating.

  When I started my fade JWs told me I was no longer welcomed at their weekly game...all this because I was no longer regular at their church's activities. So I am not surprised that they are snubbing you.

  Conti Appeal Preview - Oral Argument Jan 14

  with hopefully a good deal of interest here in the conti appeal tomorrow (or later today, depending on where you are), i thought that on my ride home from work tonight i'd preview what to expect and what i think the key issues are for any who are interested.

  i have had a busy few weeks and haven't had time to read everything, but i had some time to look at the appeal briefs during my work commute the past couple days.

  it'll be interesting to see what develops out of the network news coverage of this case.

  Paedophilia is a crime, not a sin. Any confession of such crime to an elder should be promptly reported to the police. Failure to do so makes the elder an accomplice of the past and future abuse...plain and simple. If the WT instructions are to deal with the matter internally they are also to blame...do the crime, pay the fine.

  After 50 years of loyal service with "God's organization" I stopped attending the meetings and not a single "close as brothers" friend called to inquire or assist. I didn't move or fall of the edge of the earth. I can see the Kingdom Hall from my house! Loving group of people aren't they? Feel free to join Undercover Witness. You will soon find out they are only nice because they are programmed to convert. Otherwise they are just like anybody else. Don't preach the virtues of a cult you know nothing about.

  out of the blue my wife started to ask me about my feeling about the borg.

  i told her i didn't want to talk about it...she persisted.

  she already knows how i feel, i told her that my biggest beef is that they use mind control, and yep she went in to how i was an apostate and how she doesn't want to be married to an apostate.

  My wife also said she didn't want to be married to an unbeliever. I replied I understood her reaction because of my sudden exit from the WT. I told her my love for her was not dependent to my affiliation to the WT and that she should really think about it because the next time she expressed her will to no longer be married to me it would be the last. I was ready to move on and live alone because I could no longer live prisoner of the cult. It took 2 years for things to settle but today I can say we are both well adjusted to our new reality. If you really love each other your marriage can survive and you both can still find happiness.

  The very thought of living amongst a world filled by JWs under the rules of the GB would suppress free will,  equating to slavery. I was involved in several building projects and JW activities where you are only free to conform to the leaders, regardless if they are right or wrong. The reason given is that you don't want to disrupt the unity and harmony of the group,  but the real reason is that you must totally submit to the rulers even when it doesn't make any sense. I will never surrender my right to think and freedom to any cult leaders.

  Consequences of staying on the recommended Hotel list

  i wanted to share an experience i had and see if anyone else had encountered this same matter.

  we always tried to make an extra effort to ensure we stood on the approved hotel lists when going to our special day conventions or district conventions or what they now call regional.

  we use to stay many nights a year and i would save up my hotel points to use at a later time.. i remember checking in at popular chain hotel and asked the hotel clerk how many points would i earn for the 3 night stay?

  In the US the WT received money for holding conventions in certain cities who have a dedicated fund to promote tourism. In my area the WT benefits from special rates to lease the arena because we do a great job cleaning it....including a free clean up after a massive renovation of the building several months before the first assembly was to be held. So in the end these conventions are profitable for the WT even before counting the donations.

  after the general small talk of new cars, exotic vacations and sports we often get into the "why" we are xjubs.
