I was at the Just for laughs festival in Montreal and there was a cart at the gate where Ste Catherine street was closed to traffic to allow street performances and vendors. The 3 JW stood up and watched people ignore them. I have not been living in this city for almost 20 years but I recognized one of the witnesses and he recognized me right away even with my "vacation beard". He said he loved doing this work and that he was going to regular pioneer come September. He's an apartment building superintendent and now he can spend a few hours a day by a cart to make his pioneer hours. Preaching is not as it used to be....

38Trolley cart "witnessing" is getting ridiculous
by oppostate ini really fail to see how much actual "witnessing" is occurring with the trolley carts.publishers, usually pioneers, just stand or sit there not engaging anyone and count their time.. the only thing i notice that it's accomplishing is brand exposure for jw.0rg so the public is exposed to the logo and literature/poster card headlines.. take for example this "evening" witnessing by a pioneer elder while on summer holiday/vacation.. .
is this not a wth kinda moment when you consider the years of slaving, knocking on doors, business territory and bible studies we had to keep performing so we weren't branded a "weak" publisher?.

Yes. So amongst the millions who attended the memorial of Christ's death only a handful (approximately 11000) actually eat and drink while others watch. The WT has long professed the number of anointed participants would decrease as we neared the end but the number has grown...you should ask your JW teacher why?

There was a great demonstration of the Gear VR at the Samsung booth at the last Consumer Electronic Show and I took several press members through it. At first most said that they weren't very interested but as soon as I told them we could jump the long waiting queue they all tried it. You should have seen their reaction when the demonstration started. ...big smiles and looking all around. The demo was a boat ride in white water rapids and after they were surfing in Hawaii. The seats were moving and shaking which added to the experience. Everyone who tried it were really impressed and admitted that it was way better than they expected. The key element is content and Occulus has quite a library. Some of the summer Olympics will be recorded in VR.

Is Knowing/Using The Name Of God Important?

seems to me that god made sure that both that his personal name does not appear therein and that no one would ever actually know it or learn even how to pronounce it.
he also made sure that his name (baring 3 hallelujahs in revelation) did not appear in the new testament.

to introduce myself, i am still in the jws but learned ttatt some months ago.
i now ask this question to get more info on a past teaching.. between 1967 and 1980 was when the 'current understanding' of the wts was that organ transplants were cannibalism, and thus abhorrent.

I was raised as a JW and in my 60 plus years I personally know of only one JW who had an organ transplant. So during the early days of this medical procedure it would have been very rare for a JW to be confronted to this situation. By the time organ transplants became accessible to most the WT made it a conscience matter. Still the WT's early view of organ transplant as cannibalism was absolutely ridiculous and sadly they still hold this position when it comes to blood transfusions and I have witnessed many turning down medical treatment that could have saved their life for alternative treatments that often failed to cure them. Since transplants were associated to blood transfusions an unrepentant sinner would be excommunicated, which would have been every case since an organ transplant would have been planned well ahead unlike a blood transfusion received in an emergency situation.

by sp74bb inbye... bye.... no more new printing presses for jw.org... the growth is so tremendous (irony...).. all printing work in europe will be arrange in the next month only in selters (germany), but no renovation or upgrading in printing presses is expected... it will be a full outsourcing :).
a worldly company axel s******* will be used.
this company is known to be printing bild newspaper... the interesting part of it is the logistics will be as well outsourced.

by looter inso jws believe all humans have faults, problems, birth pangs, etc., because we all inherited sin from the original human being adam.
like i would like this to make since but why would jehovah do this to future humans who have done nothing wrong at all?
i think of it like if a parent has one child and that child really disobeyed her before then when the parent has a second child, she punishes that child because of what her first did.

So how did it happen? What caused Adam and Eve to feel ashamed they were naked when that's all they knew? There was only the two of them...Can we attribute the first clothing items to them? Was there something in the fruit that activated the aging process of their perfect body or did God put on a timer? What about the tree of life, how would it undo the consequencesconsequences of the inimaginable act of rebellion of eating a fruit? Doesn't all this sound absolutely ridiculous - how could I have ever believed all of it is beyond me.
