Watching the old timers bobbing their head in agreement with the explanation of the overlapping generation at the 2010 district convention made me realize I had to escape the cult. -

I worked at a technology company and always had the latest communication devices so I was targeted after there was a circuit assembly part calling modern devices a waste of time. I clearly remember how they used a thick instruction manual to emphasize how learning how to use a personal assistant device would have you waste time that could be used in the ministry...Today the WT expect my 84 year old mother to learn how to use a tablet...that's a waste of time! -

I just can't watch these video to the end...but it's amazing how they picture LGBTs persecuting them...the situation in the shop is unrealistic and when asked for a donation a "no, thank you" is usually the end of it. -

An older sister used to leave magazines in the washroom of a local shopping mall. Caretakers of the mall contacted the congregation and asked to stop the sister from leaving magazines because people blocked the toilets trying to flush them down.

I can't figure out how a JW, in this case the husband, would accept to go on national TV with all the negative publicity that this would bring on the organisation. The only reason JWs go on TV is to give a positive witness...which is sure not the case in this situation. How can the husband go back to the hall after he has aired out is personal problems for all who watched?

Talking Janet Jackson and Religious Freedom with the Wife
by OnTheWayOut inmy recent sidewalk discussion with a couple of jw's has gotten me in the mood to say more when appropriate.so the wife and i were riding in the car and cat stevens comes on.
i mentioned to her that cat stevens left music when he was still popular and converted to islam back in the 1970's- how he was told that his music would have to be morally acceptable and he found it easier to just abandon making new music for at least 20 years.
so i didn't really remember all the details and i figured the conversation would die.

CLAM MEETING Dumbing down
by freddo inso yesterday was the midweek meeting - the first of the month for december so instead of locals doing the little talk skits we get the on screen shadow puppets.. after each one the ms taking the item asks the congregation for "positive" comments.. part way through i get a text from a pimo brother enduring the show which reads thus (and i quote word for word ...).
"it's like listening to a bunch of people from a mental institution.
".

That might explain why recently my wife hasn't been going to the mid-week meeting...

Unbelievable KMS example
by Saltheart Foamfollower ini've been to the kingdom ministry school (for elders) recently and can report that it is mostly the usual mix of cliches and platitudes.
several letters where basically just read through one line at a time.
one point early on though almost made me laugh out loud.
