Have you ever heard some brothers own ideas and opinions spouted from the platform? perhaps off brand or crazy ones?

    Some that I've heard is:

"Armageddon has started!" Said the Sunday after 9/11

"We should never frequent pubs or bars!"

    "Single parent families are unspiritual"

"Jehovah is like admiral Nelson " that's was a whole talk about how similar Jehovah is to Nelson for some insane reason.

"Womens minds are not suited to such tasks as designing houses, only decorating them ans making them look pretty"

I'm in favour of JWs staying away from pubs and bars, personally

    I agree, DEAD. Non existent.

My Dad (RIP), used to loathe that stuff. He said that once you say something from the platform, no matter how weird, it becomes law.

There are plenty of little nobodies that think that they can become somebodies in cults. This is one of their methods. Spout their foolish ideas from the platform.

"True Christians should not wear jeans"

"If your jacket is wrinkled at the meeting, that is like bringing Jehovah your crippled animals for sacrifice."

"If a sisters skirt is short, she is inviting rapists or worse!"

This all from a short old elder with bug eyes and a comb over.

    Hysterically funny now, looking back.

Im sure "Tight pants Tony" is his hero these days.

    PURRPURR:

I remember this happening. Certain brothers were prone to using the podium to put forth their personal opinions in addition to airing their grievances (real and imagined) against the congregation.

Yeah, this was a really huge concern of mine years ago and pissed me off when I was a JW. I got sick and tired of hearing these " armchair quarterback " personal opinions by elders who thought they knew everything. And yes, very often some of these opinions would leak out through the microphone over the platform.

One of the stupidest ones I heard from an elder was this quote , " It would be better for a brother to have sex with a prostitute than to masturbate , because masturbation is selfish."

I mean, wow. The idiocy that I was an eyewitness to personally among elders while in that JW cult - I could write a freaking book. But the old expression is so true, especially about JW elders or even WT leaders themselves that " opinions are like assholes - everybody has one . " Glad I'm away from the JW madness

Everything spouted from the platform is someone’s personal opinion. Every book, every talk, everything.

A direct quote from C. W., last known to be in Cottonwood, AZ., "If you don't climax, it isn't fornication."

PO or COBE or whatever hes called said if you drive a 2 door car you're not spiritual and very materialistic. A very young, just married, broke reg pioneer couple were about crying because they had a beat up 2 door honda and couldn't afford it or anything else
