I would buy the Bossert Hotel and turn it into a homeless shelter...and show the WT what charity really means....

So What Would You Do If You Won $550,000,000?
by Mary inok, so the mega millions jackpot is at half a billion dollars.
if you won and decided to take it in a lump sum, you automatically lose 40%, then there's state and federal taxes, so you'd actually get a 'meazly' $240,000,000.. what would you do if you won that kind of money?
other than donate a chunk to the world-wide-wit-lessing-work..........

What's Your Status? Are You Technically Still A JW?...

Inactive, returned from the 2010 District Convention and never went back to a regular congregation meeting. Since, I attended a funeral and a wedding...the same way I would if they were held in a Catholic Church. I told my immediate family I will never return, but deep inside I think they are still in denial since I always was the "strongest" JW of the family. My sister thought I was depressed but when she visited with my COBOE brother, I told them that I have never been happier and for the first time in 50 years I finally enjoy life...that I would chose death over returning to the slavery...

Tim Horton's
by Sic Semper Tyrannis ini have a question for my canadian friends here.
i go there often, and i see a tim hortons on pretty much every street, like mcdonalds is down here.
i've gone in to see what the fuss was all about, and all i saw were donuts and pastries i can find in every grocery store or gas station back home.

The description of the methods used by apostate resemble what JWs learn on the Service Meeting and Ministry School....they lead with a question of interest...quote Bible verses out of context and twist or misquote secular sources to support their stand...and when you are painted in a corner you resort to discrediting the other party's reputation or motives...

Tal,
Mind you it was in an industrial league in Montreal and Ray's brother looked like him but that's where the comparison stopped. Still, it was a 12-team league and the hockey level was quite good. Teams were sponsered by different companies so it cost me nothing to play a some of our equipment was paid for. This was a long time ago...but at 57 I still play in a team where most players are in their late 20's to mid 30's.

Wha H...I did the research because it happened to me...McDonald's free lotto ticket...hid it in the glove box...found it 2 months later with gaz receipts...check the number...bingo! 50k...considered not claiming...but reasoned that JWs can accept blood fractions which are acquired from illicit blood donations...if that is OK accepting the prize money acquired from gambling must also be acceptable...!

Talesin, now you're talking Super Star...and although I hated the Bruins, Bobby Orr and later Raymond Bourque (I played hockey against his brother) are my all-time favorite defensemen. Unfortunately we will never know how much more Orr could have accomplished if his career didn't come to an end so quickly.
A last jab...Horton 4 Stanley Cups and 22 years...Orr 2 Stanley Cups and 11 years...
You know your hockey T!

WT looks down at lotteries...even if the ticket is free, accepting the prize money is accepting "dirty money" acquired in an illicit activity (gambling/greedy money). Roll up the rim is free and prizing is "clean" since corporate Tim Horton uses this contest to promote their business....and it is not gambling.

My COBOE brother told me in "all confidence" that the wife of a former CO had won one of the SUVs in the roll up the rim contest...I guess when you go to Timmies everyday you have more chances to win...and this is a "WT approved" way of winning a prize.

Talesin, Maybe Tim Horton isn't from your era...1952 is a long time ago! Still, when you look at the average duration of a career in today's hockey, 22 years is exceptional! He is in the NHL Hall of fame....that defines a legend to me.
