  What Makes A Good Friend?

  i just came back from vacation with my sister who is in her mid 40s and is an active jw, regular pioneer of many years.

  while away, during one of our conversations, it bacame clear to me that my sister is lonely and doesn't have a social life.

  she's too old to be included in the plans of the younger generation and, as she is not married, doesn't get included in the "marrieds" set.

  I am sorry for your sister, but this is happening in most congregations. The JW friendships are defined (like the territory) by congregation....close friends move to another congregation and in time you no longer hear from them regardless of how close you were. It is not only true with friends but also with family. So imagine how quickly you are forgotten when you "abandon" them and become inactive. I was active for 50 years and I was very hospitable and yet when I left not one of the friends even called...worse, they surely must think of me when they see my wife at the meeting! Nope...just the less and less frequent salutations through my wife. Who needs that kind of extended circle of friends! On the other hand I'm still in touch with people I worked with 40 years ago at my first job.

  1975 end prediction

  does anyone have the article written by the wt saying that the end would come in 1975?.

  how did people back then come to this year?

  i need this information becuase i was told, this was never literally written by the wt in any publication.. thanks.

  Shaving: Wet or Electric?

  something i ponder about now and again.

  i don't shave that much, maybe twice a week so it's not even a big deal, but i saw someone at the health club using an electric shaver and that got me pondering all over again.. .

  i've been using mach iii recently and fairly happy with that.

  For me electric shavers take too long and don't shave close enough so I had to shave again before going to the meeting. Now I use disposable dual blades and shave on week days only.

  Attended the district convention in 2009 and after listening to the generation WT review, then the final talk, I decided that this was the last meeting I would ever attend. I have been inactive since.

  Wonderfully written...if she never had sex with "Eric" her husband had no scriptural divorce and he is fornicating with his new wife according to their own JW rules! But then again elders have their own set of rules.

  what is the(or what was your) main motivation for serving god as a jw(or any christian)?.

  a) love for god and genuinely trying to learn more about him and bible truths?.

  b) to escape punishment/death at armegddon?.

  I was raised believing it was the only truth and that God loved his faithful witnesses. Unfortunately it took me decades to realize my life wasn't any better than the life of my unbelieving neighbors...except that they were free to decide how to live theirs. I never felt that intimate relationship JWs claim we should have with God...he was never there for me...

  please join with me, and celebrate the 30th anniversary of the classic wt with the front cover which boldly proclaimed that the generation of 1914 would never pass away.. the cover date of the that wt is infact this very day so let us raise a glass to this clear sign they have god's backing:.

  in this the 100th anniversary of our lords return (invisibly of course brothers) it is a fine and appropriate thing to do..

  CO Special Meeting with MS & Elders

  when the co visits a cognregation this semester, a special meeting with elders and mss is sceduled tuesday night, right after the normal meeting.

  does anyone know what this meeting is about?

  this special meeting is held at the beginning of the co-week, and is different from the standard meeting with personnel which is held friday evening.
