What is the(or what was your) MAIN motivation for serving God as a JW(or any christian)?
A) Love for God and genuinely trying to learn more about him and bible truths?
or
B) To escape punishment/death at Armegddon?
i think for most people its B

That's a pretty cynical view of a couple billion people....
I was raised believing it was the only truth and that God loved his faithful witnesses. Unfortunately it took me decades to realize my life wasn't any better than the life of my unbelieving neighbors...except that they were free to decide how to live theirs. I never felt that intimate relationship JWs claim we should have with God...he was never there for me...
Main reason JWs are JWs
A).. Love for God and genuinely trying to learn more about him and bible truths?
B) ..To escape punishment/death at Armegddon?

For me it was B, but I'd like to rephrase it as "to gain everlasting life". It wasn't the fear of death at armageddon that motivated me, but what was promised that will be waiting for me after.
It's a bunch of lies anyway, what does it matter now?
To be honest in the beginning it was neither batman89. I fell for the whole, there must be a purpose for this amazing universe and for complex life on earth. Mainly because I knew nothing about evolution or cosmology. To me that argument was logical, but I didn't have all the facts. I did learn to love 'Jehovah' and want to live in the new system. If that was the great plan I wanted to be part of it.
For me it was B, but I'd like to rephrase it as "to gain everlasting life".....will-be-apostate

D. A reason to feel superior to most other people.
@ outlaw: Yeah, i saw that before I posted. My intention was to emphasize the fact that I made no difference between death at armageddon or regular death.
If they were all in for the same reason, it would be relatively simple to build an argument to help them review their motivations. But I think the reasons to join (or remain in if born-in) are as complex and as individual as people can be.
Now, a broader question might be why I remain a Christian, attending services regularly? I find modern society to be deficient in social outlets to get our know our (physical) neighbours. I attend for the sense of community. I am refreshed when I participate in worship, though I cannot say why.
