To Snakes...Kitchener is near Mouthy's home but I believe her JW daughter lives in Montreal where her husband served as an elder in Dorval. He was gravely ill a few years ago and Mouthy said her daughter had reached out to her then.

If the organisation is entitled to make mistakes, can't any other religion make the same claim? The JW are quick to point out the faults of other churches saying that God can't possibly approve their actions...what about when the JW hide child abuse and threaten victims with excommunication if they expose the abusers? 1006 documented cases with 0 reported in Australia? What a poor record for an organization claiming to "abhor" child abuse. They have no love for the victims and only loyalty to the organization.

Should doctors tell JW patients that there is disagreement about Watchtower's blood policy.
by Lee Elder inthis has been a controversial issue among doctors and medical ethicists.
i think it basically comes down to the fact that physicians have a responsibility to establish the presence of informed consent.
is it really possible for a person to give informed consent if they are not accurately informed?.

As many of us experienced when trying to challenge a JW's beliefs, doctors and medical staff quickly realize that's it's impossible to reason with a person who is in cult mode and can't listen to reason. It is even worse when such a patient has the support of his family and cult leaders (hospital liaison elder). The patient is convinced he is right even before he speaks to the doctors. If he dies the patient will be seen as a hero by his surviving peers and is guaranteed a resurrection. This patient can only be treated on his terms and most doctors view this as the lesser of two evels...the other being watching the person die.

First of all, I am not mad at all at them. Actually when the elders came to visit more than a year after I went missing I told them I needed to be left alone and they have respected this. The topic discussed here is the cool feeling of community in the JW. I used my personal story to illustrate how this feeling is conditional to your support of the organisation. Anyone expressing doubts or any dissidence disqualifies you from their friendship. I decided to distance myself to salvage my relationship with my JW family members and avoid the heartache my JW wife would experience if I was officially disfeĺlowshipped. I believe you could find the same feeling of community within the mafia, just as long as you are willing to run protection rackets, prostitution rings, drug distribution and murders. Once you no longer wish to participate chances are you will be killed...with the JWs the assassination is social when you are considered as dead by the cult members. This is a very high price to pay for a conditional feeling of community. The reason I mentioned the close proximity of the Kingdom Hall is that if anyone really cared about my well being they could stop by to say hello instead of asking my wife to relay their "warm greetings". Obviously they're all waiting for me to find my way back and conform to belief system I can no longer believe in.

Billions of hours to recruit new members - 0 phone call to inquire about NVR2L8 who hasn't been to the meetings for a year. I guess my JW friends are too busy standing by a literature kart...

Lovesjah....aren't our shepherds supposed to be caring for the flock? What about leaving the 99 to find that one lost sheep? Shouldn't my sudden disappearance raise concerns for the caretakers of our soul? What about those I helped materially and spiritually?Shouldn't they be prompted to return the favor? You said that they are waiting for me to call them...what kind of friends do that? You can only be friends with them on their own terms...and I don't need that kind of one way friendship. Every one of these "friends" would turn me in to the elders in the blink of an eye if I shared with them the reasons for leaving the cult. There's not one of them I could have a heart to heart conversation without being viewed as an mentally diseased apostate...not even my wife!

lovesjah and Frank Ward...
Six years ago I stopped attending JW meetings after 50 years of faithful service. I was never reproved or inactive and growing up I was on the program of several conventions , including an international one in New York City because of my exemplary conduct. Although never an elder, I gave public talks in other congregations, conducted the ministry school occasionally and was a book study conductor for the group we hosted in our house. I served as the account servant and for many years was a sign language translator. I was the go to guy for last minute parts on the school or service meeting parts. Then I stopped accompanying my wife to the meetings because I could no longer keep up with the numerous doctrinal changes starting with the overlapping generation. It's been six years and I am still waiting for the first phone call from my closely knit JW community. The best they have done is for two elders to come to my door unannounced to officially inquire, this more than a year after I stopped attending. One of the elders I considered a close friend....he hugged me at every meeting and yet, he never called me to ask how I was doing, and now over a year later he's at my door with another elder in their suits and Bible in hand...hypocrites. The best I get now from the warm JW is an occasional hello from "friends" through my wife when she returns from the meeting...by the way, I see the Kingdom Hall from the corner of my street.

To your point Pbrow....I found a great feeling of community with some of my neighbors who ride motorcycles. We meet regularly at a coffee shop, organize group rides, help each other with repairs, do charity fund raising. Likewise, in my hockey league, we go out after the games, some guys help each other with finding jobs or getting work done...The best thing about it all is no one cares about the religion your in or your political opinion. All that matters is that you treat others the same way you wish to be treated.

Thanks Coco.
Same mentality as the JWs. Sweep everything under the rug, ignore the victims and protect the organisation. My involvement with the JW goes way back when physical discipline was the only form used and kids were crying on their way to the washroom because they knew they were there to get spanked for just being normal kids during the meeting.

Does Jehovah Intervene - JW Teaching
by thedepressedsoul ini have been a jw my whole life and i have never been able to get a clear answer on this question.
jw's do not believe that jehovah will intervene if someone is sick, dying or stopping a car crash.
they feel that jehovah is letting "this world" play out before he solves all of these problems.

An elder once told me that Jah made a real estate fall through to guide him into an area where the need for elders was great. I asked him how God decides between acting in his real estate deal instead of saving faithful brothers from persecution, starvation and suffering to death? I told him I prayed for a dying friend and to find a job...and I got the job while my friend died...why did Jah answer the lesser important request? Blank stare...I guess his anti-apostate warning bell started ringing because he started avoiding me.
