Forgiveness Yesterday, Today and Forever
by Cold Steel ini was just watching the jw broadcasting network and the topic being discussed was forgiveness.
the fellow presenting the topic was talking a brother who had sinned many years ago.
he finally came clean with the local elders, accepted his discipline and got on with his life.

This "statute of limitation" is only for elders who managed to keep their sin secret for a few years while they continued to be "blessed" with special privileges as evidence of God's blessing despite his mistake. What a load of bull crap

"I didn't know there were so many nice friends in the congregatiin...I guess I was too focused on what I wanted to do"...so I guess you have to devote yourself in doing what THEY want you to do and don't slack off because you will find out what good "friends" they are! -

JWs as so proud of youths who take a stand for their faith at the peril of their life. Sadly though, many of these children are only parroting their parents words out of ignorance or by fear of displeasing them. One of these youth died in my arms after a long fight with cancer. At 15 he refused all blood products which prevented the doctors to use a more aggressive approach to fight the disease. His parents were so proud...now that I am awake I can no longer understand how a parent won't do anything possible to save his child. I just couldn't live with sich doubts. -

A few Saturdays ago I had a birthday and as always I wasn't expecting anything special to happen on this ordinary day...when in mid-morning I hear the doorbell. I am watching cartoons on TV with my grand children and my wife tells met that I must to go answer the door. Who could that be? JWs working our territory? I doubt it because they usually skip our house despite the fact I am the only unbeliever in the house. SURPRISE! It's my 82 year old "pioneer for life" mom who lives 600 km away! I am overjoyed to see her. We hug and kiss and cry...then I ask her how she got here? Then I see the rest of my JW siblings: my single sister, my brother who is an elder, his wife and adult daughter. So after greeting them all I tell them jokingly that it is nice of them to come visit for my birthday...my brother feigned not to remember that it was indeed the day I was born and said they couldn't come 12 days earlier to celebrate with us our 42nd wedding anniversary...so here they are! I'm glad he cleared that situation and their conscience so we could go on having a great dinner, an anniversary cake, cards and gifts (for both my wife and I). In retrospect, I wonder if they realize that we would have done exactly the same thing if we celebrated birthdays? I guess not since my wife got upset when she found out my daughter sent me a birthday gift at work. She was upset that we secretly send each other birthday gifts. I told her that we didn't want her to be troubled nor didn't want to engage in a fight. This time I had to tell her about the gift because she was going to find out anyways; it was 6 pairs of coloured socks...an inside joke between daughter and I that my wife wouldn't get. -

Similar situation than Phizzy, I bought a new car and I week later I parked it at the airport for an 8-day business trip...so after a 6 hour evening return flight I get to the parking lot and can't seem to find my car. I start thinking that I am on the wrong level...but then I decide to hit the panic button on the car's fob only to realize I am a few meters away from my brand new car. This isn't the first time either. In the fall I fly out of the same airport in consecutive weeks and once I couldn't remember where I parked my car. I had to drive around with the lot security agent to find my car - that parking has 8 levels! To avoid this happening again, I use my phone to take a picture of the signage...

Would you kill for the org?.......YES I WOULD!
by olongapo joe inso, a few years ago my jw parents, my non jw sister and her husband, and myself were discussing religion and jw beliefs.
my parents of course defending the jw's, the rest of us, against jw's ( it may not have been specifically against jw's, maybe just religion in general) anyway, things are getting a little heated, and i finally ask my pops, if the watchtower bible and tract society told you to go out and start killing muslims, would you do it?
yes i would, was his reply, to which i say, then your not any different than the radical muslims killing in the name of religion.

No, but I was OK with the idea that big J would destroy all unbelievers...then after I distanced myself from the cult I took time to think about how insane this was. -

It was way more than an expressed opinion when a house called Beth Sarim was built in San Diego to welcome king David and other worthies in a climate that resembled the middle east. The hiuse was legally deeded to them...that's more than just an opinion...that's putting your money where your mouth is. -

Just realized this recently - as a JW, I never "owned" any of my accomplishments or talents & abilities....
by Muddy Waters injust realized this recently - as a jw, i never "owned" any of my accomplishments or talents & abilities....we were always told how we are nothing, just specks of dust, grasshoppers, worms.... lowly, despicable sinners in need of redemption, born into sin & misery, constantly facing temptations that we could never handle on our own but only with "jehovah's help"... so we were continually marginalized, all our abilities and talents... they would even quote scriptures that said things like "why should we boast as if we didn't receive these abilities..?
"it was a weird mentally psychotic dichotomy -- being told we were worthless sinners, undeserving of god's kindness -- and on the other hand being the only ones who would survive the great day of jehovah the almighty god at armageddon.
(well, probably, maybe, if we did enough and *kept* doing enough...)so we didn't "own" any of our abilities and accomplishments.

I am with you MW. I too gave credit to the "practical training" I received from the organisation for the skills and abilities that made me succeed at work and in my life in general. Now I realize I could have acquired much more skills and knowledge by pursuing my education for a few more years rather than spending decades in the cult. WT edookaciun leads to no diploma or certificate and I always felt I had to work twice as hard as anyone else to keep my job. Today I realize that I have talents and skills that resulted from my efforts to better myself and striving for the next challenge, something that is frowned upon by the JW cult.

The Hermit's story PART 4
by The Hermit inpart 4 1992-1994. after the events of april 1992 my dad went through a drastic change of attitude.
he would order as many books he could from the hall's library; the green insight books, bound volumes of past watchowers and awake magazines, interlinear greek scriptures, reasoning from the scritpures, the list goes on.
in those days you had to go to his special room he called his office if you wanted to find him, usually sitting at his desk with his nose in the wt books and writing stuff down on paper.

Nice to read your story The Hermit. Details from your story makes me believe that I once lived in the same city as your family (there's only one Shriners hospital in Canada)...and je parle français. I moved away 2 decades ago but I still have family very active including a brother who has assembly parts every year. You can PM me if you wish.
