What is the difference between an active JW and a successful FORMER JW?
by Terry inpassionate enthusiasm (where is yours?).
active jw's are pushing the end times boulder up the mountain day after day with an imaginary goal of paradise for their efforts.
the prophetic dates roll over them and crush them again and again.

What usually happens after the memorial?
by Frazzled UBM indo members of the congregation usually have a meal together after the memorial?
does the fact that my wife has decided not to travel across town to her filipino congregation and is going to the local one instead and wants to be picked up when it finishes at 8 pm mean that she hasn't been invited to a meal with her filipino congregation and that she is being socially excluded by them?
i think this is good news but i don't want her to get caught up with the local congregatin because i don't want them coming around to pressure her to attend when she is irregular.

The Bizarre Free Will
by John_Mann intwo years before i left jw world i came to a strange conclusion about the jw cosmology and the free will doctrine.. basically i came to conclusion that satan is right about the universal sovereign issue.
and i came with that just only using jws premises, no outside apostasy.
i just told to my sister what she thought about it, and she said to me: dont tell anyone about this!.

new hope and happiness Freewill its an illusion.
Yes, so we can say the self (conscious human mind) is an illusion too since it's considered the source of free will.
But in JW land the freewill is a reality.
JW's seems to get nothing right! LOL
That makes me wonder sometimes if there's some continuation of self after death since JW's says there's not. LOL

"Gospel Writing" -An Excellent Book
by metatron in"gospel writing" by francis watson is an excellent book that examines (across 600+ pages) the process by which the gospels were written and the process by which they came to be accepted as canonical (as holy writ).. that's really a main point of the book - that there were many written gospels used and quoted by early christians and the 4 we have today were only accepted as 'word for word' inspired thru time as believers came to think of them that way.. a quote: "no religious, philosophical, or literary text enters the world with the label "canonical" already attached.
canonical status is a matter not for authors but for readers; it arises not from composition but from usage.
" (page 3).

So is the WT right when it says don't waste time reading the bible because you won't fine the truth the real truth? No.
The WT doesn't follow the Sola Scriptura.
Remember too that Mark, Matthew, Luke and John did not actually write the books that bear their names.
Probably they never existed at all. The twelve apostle is related to the 12 stages (months) of the sun (Jesus), they are part of the Deus Solus myth just like the Zodiac.

Most interesting chat with an annointed JW today
by A.M. Number 1 inwe sat in a mc donalds talking for the last 2 hours.
she made some very interesting claims like:.
god magically takes thoughts from her head and puts them in the watchtower magazine.

When I was still in I questioned an old annointed lady how she knew she was part of 144k, she told me a story about buying a pair of shoes to work in FS with 50% off.
She take the discount as a sign of favour from Jehovah.
When I heard about F. Franz and his talking shoes I reminded of her. LOL

Anyone Here Used to Fear Persecution?
by kneehighmiah ini was thinking today about how i no longer have to fear the attack of satan against the jws.
i used to fear being rounded up and beaten by mobs.
seeing my family tortured.

I can relate to all posts of this thread! I remember thinking in plans to how hide literature and have secret meetings and field service. I remember I listened to some brother who was a door salesman in persecution time, and he tried to sell salt for a very expensive price so people would be asking why the salt was so expensive and then giving opportunity to preach something crazy about the expensive salt related to the horsemen of revelation...
Can you imagine a lunatic selling expensive salt at your door and then talking about mythological horsemen?
WT loves to mess up with the mind of innocent children.
