  What is spirit, exactly?

  i've always wondered that.

  recently i asked that question on another thread and didn't really get ananswer.

  cofty made an excellent point that we often hear what it isn't, but that really isn't useful.. so, what is it?

  It`s the folk conception to the software part of living beings.

  Just because software is immaterial they tend to make it a supernatural thing.

  Remains to be explained if our software is a local thing full installed in every brain (hardware) or are running in a cloud (like internet) independent from local hardware.

  I tend to think our minds (or spirit, software) runs in a cloud. Or at least some part of our software is in a cloud. And I don't think what we call identity can survive the death of hardware. Logically speaking you can't kill something immaterial, so in a sense our software/spirit/consciousness/mind is immortal. Probably in a near future we will be able to not be so dependable in a so fragile hardware, I think we will be able to transfer our softaware from a biological hardware to non biological substrates/hardware. Then we will know a lot more about our software. We are already walking this path with the Blue Brain Project, see the OpenWorm Project too.

  one is 20 years old, the other 23.. the gt delayed again!!

  The international culture.

  The obsession with administrative structure.

  The (physical) non violent behaviour.

  Even though their premises are nonsense, they have a complex racionalization upon their doctrines. But now the generation stuff are not making sense even if you follow their very premises...

  Outside the WT I use my experience in there and my knowledge of a closed world system to make some extrapolations to real world. I use the WT world as a kind of simulation or small scale prototype to understand the big real world (open system). Now I use the WT as my ant colony experiment, I like to make some predictions about their future decisions and compare the results. One strong prediction is the give up the literal interpretation of the 144,000. Another is to stop to print the magazines and keep only the online version. I think they will just print leaflets.

  What is the difference between an active JW and a successful FORMER JW?

  active jw's are pushing the end times boulder up the mountain day after day with an imaginary goal of paradise for their efforts.

  Terry I'm a born-in, but I have this trait to gather information about bad events in my life.

  I always try to figure out what/how/why happened.

  It's interesting to me see someone talking about it.

  I fully woke up when I was 24.

  I just overcome something when I full understand it.

  do members of the congregation usually have a meal together after the memorial?

  does the fact that my wife has decided not to travel across town to her filipino congregation and is going to the local one instead and wants to be picked up when it finishes at 8 pm mean that she hasn't been invited to a meal with her filipino congregation and that she is being socially excluded by them?

  i think this is good news but i don't want her to get caught up with the local congregatin because i don't want them coming around to pressure her to attend when she is irregular.

  Their version of deep meditation is read a dumbed down article of Watchtower or edible insects in Awake.

  The Bizarre Free Will

  two years before i left jw world i came to a strange conclusion about the jw cosmology and the free will doctrine.. basically i came to conclusion that satan is right about the universal sovereign issue.

  and i came with that just only using jws premises, no outside apostasy.

  i just told to my sister what she thought about it, and she said to me: dont tell anyone about this!.

  Yes, so we can say the self (conscious human mind) is an illusion too since it's considered the source of free will.

  But in JW land the freewill is a reality.

  JW's seems to get nothing right! LOL

  That makes me wonder sometimes if there's some continuation of self after death since JW's says there's not. LOL
