Usually once a day in the morning. Unless it's extremely hot, as it has been the last two or three weeks here in LA-LA land, or if I'm going out with a member of the fairer sex.

just wondering what exactly americans (u.s.a) are taught about their country in school .do you really salute a flag, do you swear allegiance to the country.
are you taught that you fought for freedom, and that america is the land of the free, etc etc?
do you actually believe what you are taught?
I just told you my experience going to school on a military base and there wasn't any enforced indoctrinisation. Seems to me you want to believe there is regardless of what anyone who lives here and went to school here might want to tell you. So basically we are all pretty much wasting our time because you don't want to hear what we really are taught here, you just want your own preconceived notions of the US to be proven and will ignore anyone and anything that doesn't support it.
What Zena said, and in spades, too.
This thread tires me.

Very good Robdar. You're learning. There is hope for someone that didn't know what an appeal to emotion was yesterday.
There is an old saying that goes: If your young and conservative, you have no heart. If your old and liberal, you have no brain.
I'm in the middle. Half-hearted and half-brained.

Actually, Simon, I left childish games behind when I grew up and became a Republican.
However, my son when he was about 4 or 5 loved Where's Waldo. Alas, he to grew up and left those things behind.

Speaking of committing hideous crimes...hasn't the person that you tout on your banner ads ADMITED to commiting hideous crimes?
Oh wait, he's a Democrat and a liberal so all is forgiven.

Be careful Tony T! There are people on this board that have a strange aversion to FACTS.

I went back and visited my home town on several occasions after high school, and I ran into many firends that entered the military. The thing that struck me the most was the maturity level between them and me.
Military life does make you grow up fast.

don't we all love our freedom of speech?
i miss the days when i was growing up when rock groups, singer/songwriters and other types of entertainers spoke out against racism, the vietnam war, etc.
it felt to me like people were more passionate about making the world a better and more fair place.

Still, calling 18, 19 and 20 year olds adult does not make them so. Perhaps when you have children of your own who are that age you will understand what I am talking about.
Sorry robdar, at 18 they are considered adults by legal status. Whether they are truly "adult" depends on them and the parents they have.
This is said by a father of two (one of which is 14).
Secondly, REM is correct. The MM question abot sacrificing "children in Fallujah" is a no win question, and is designed to enflame the audience. It opens the door to being slammed by MM regardless of the answer. If O'Reilly says "Yes" then he is a bad parent. Willing to sacrifice his child for war. If he says "no" then, O'Reilly does not have the courage of his convictions.
Moore also uses an ambiguous term "children." As I have stated above, 18-20 year olds are legal adults. Simple as that. Robdar's emotive response, while touching, is immaterial, since it is not her, but the legal systems that determines the legal age.
I did not see the show. However I read the transcript, and I thought that they both handled themselves well. As to who won: a toss up.

Edited to add: Moore speaks in an exreme manner for one reason only. Lining his wallet. If he was so concerned about this whay not just show it for free as a "public service."

Plus, the latest Gallup poll reports that 56% of Americans have seen or plan to see 911--they aren't just the choir.
The key word in that statement is plan. I "plan" on doing a lot of things. It doesn't mean I'm going to do it. I'm supposed to believe that 56% of a sample of around 1,000 people reflect America's thought?
So let's put the numbers to the test. America's population is around 250,000,000. 56% of that is 140,000,000. If we multiply $8.00 by the 140 million we get $1,1190,000,000 in money grossed. Ok, now based on the the fact that the movie has only grossed (at last look) around $35 million, I think your poll is bull.
If that statement was true then f911 would be the biggest selling movie of all time. Since that hasn't even remotely happened, I think my opinion is borne out by the facts.

Edited to add: Using the same $8.00 paid per person seeing the movie; you are left with about 4,375,000 people that have paid to see the movie. That is based on one person seeing the movie one time since the movie opened.
Hmm, really looks like 56% of Americans to me, Patio.
