  How would you answer these questions?

  a non-jw family member sent me an email asking these questions:1. what is the position of the jehovah witness belief regarding gays?

  if you associate with one, will you be disfellowshipped?2.

  The position of the WTS would be similar to many orthodox Christian churches: Homosexuality is a sin. It would be a disfellowshipping sin, based on 1 Corinthians (I forget the chapter and verse) where Paul tells the Corinthian church to not associate with any who calls himself a brother and practices a list of items.

  I don't think so. I worked for a period of time in a restaurant where several of the wait staff and kitchen staff were either gay or lesbian. At the time I was a functioning member of the JWs, and my father was Presiding Overseer. I was never questioned about it. However, I really didn't spend time with them outside of work.

  2. When you go to church, do you call it a meeting at the hall or the Kingdom Hall?

  JWs attend "meetings" at a Kingdom Hall.

  3. Who is in charge? A group of elders or a committee?

  There is a group of elders. Each elder has specific responsibilities over specific areas. The Presiding Overseer, handles most of the day-to-day operations in the Congregation, as well as correspondence to and from the WTS.

  Why Would Anyone Defend Jehovah's Witnesses??????????

  What are Americans taught about U.S and what do you really believe?

  just wondering what exactly americans (u.s.a) are taught about their country in school .do you really salute a flag, do you swear allegiance to the country.

  are you taught that you fought for freedom, and that america is the land of the free, etc etc?

  do you actually believe what you are taught?

  To me, tolerance of anothers view that is in conflict with mine is a lot easier to tolerate if it does not harm me. The JW doctrines have harmed me and my whole family.

  Very true, bubbamar. Tolerance ends where physical, mental or emotional (not speaking of hurt feelings) harm begins.

  president are both supposed to be actively religious i wonder how big apart there religious outlook plays in the decisions they make.

  being non-religious myself i would be keen to see, no influence at all, but the only countries that have put that into practise are the communist ones, and we know what happened there.

  Unfortunately religion does affect political decisions... instead of using facts and logic leaders allow their religious superstitions to guide them in the decision-making.

  I guess John Kerry would be in that genre? Afterall, he referenced "Honor thy father and thy mother" in his speech last night.

  I had thought it was,this was based on me reading about it so much it watchtower literature.

  Look at your souce, sleepy. Real credible information can be garnered from the pages of WTS pablum books. I would suggest that if you are truly interested in learning about this subject, or America's history, or American government, that you look it up in a library or online.

  Thats funny because I didn't. Why so sensative?I havent made personal attacks on anyone here. If i ever go to the states I will love to stay with you both.Smiles.

  What was irritating to others, including myself, was your insistance that what you read was so, despite what you were being told by other persons that are American citizens, and have personal experience in American schools. This led many, including myself to believe that you had no point, and that you were merely America bashing.

  You would be more than welcome to stay with me if you should ever visit the States. Just remember, house guests are like fish, after 3 days they both stink.

  LABD : I'm not sure that we need a dictionnary to understand what tolerance means ...

  I posted it to remind some of the persons here what TRUE tolerance was. Based on some of the posts around here lately I think it has been truly lacking.
