If God is that switched on, it wouldn't need to use a book. But as it is, God's a thicko.

If the Almighty, Powerful, benevolent God had a book written for humans, what would it contain?
by pistolpete ini know for a fact it would not start off with a talking snake, magical fruit, invisible beings that desire beautiful women to have sex with.. and it wouldn’t end with a flying dragon, a two horned lamb, locusts that resembled horses with men’s faces, but with women’s hair and teeth of lions.
and the book wouldn’t allow for hundreds of millions of religions to spurt from it.
i think the first thing a book written by god would have, is that it would be written in a way that all languages could understand without being translated.. regardless of what language you would speak, we could read it and understand what it said.

JJ - I think a lot of woke, peace loving, vegan hippies often forget that.
That's why I'm not worried about eating burgers and steak. If I was in the wild and an animal was hungry, they wouldn't think, 'hey, there's a nice vegan who wouldn't hurt me, we can't eat them!'
No. Not a bit, they'd have your goolies off in a second.
To think, I sincerely believed in the Bible once...and I was very sincere, not pretending. Now I see it as all a big delusion and a con.

Reevy - TBK- have you ever read it all the way thru?
If you mean the Bible; yes, several times. It's rubbish.

Blimey O'Riley. This thread was like pulling teeth.
I ask a question and all I get in return is a copy paste scripture.
I've read the Bible many times over along with other 'holy' works. That's why I can't believe on faith what's in them.

Reevy - Think they would make such references if it was a MYTH?
I believe it's quite possible. After all, look at all those that believe in the things in the Quran, like Muhammed going to heaven on a winged horse.
I had a bloke at work tell me that Hinduism was truth because of the 'evidence' which he didn't provide.
I just think we need to be cautious about what we are told from any source. That seems reasonable to me.

The "Trinity" is not Biblical.
by Revealed insimple.. you cannot find the word there (or many of the comical variations such as: a triune godhead, the triunity, co-equal god beings, godhead, a hypostaic union, divine essences, divine natures, a god-the-son, a god-the-ghost, hypostasis, homoousios, perichoresis , a godman, omnipresence, incarnation, a god who is a sacred mystery, a god 'in three persons', dual natures, a reincarnate god, a first person of the trinity, a second person of the trinity, a third person of the trinity, godness, a tri-unity or a multipersonal god), or any of the so-mentioned aspects.. jehovah identified himself (not 'themselves") as on one god, as did jesus and all the prophets.
.
so, come, let us know of the simple twists of the clergy!.

Vandy. How are you old friend?
Good to know that you know you have eternal life Revealed.
So. when I was a Christian, I became born again. Then as life continued, I became extremely sceptical to a degree that I now believe in nothing.
From a Christian standpoint, is my Everlasting life still guaranteed?
I'm curious but not religious.
Not trying to divert the thread, just interested in the common view.
I also didn't believe in a Trinity per-se, but that there was a unity in 3.
