  has anyone got any good 'jws and alcohol' stories?

  i always found it amazing that so many jws got blind drunk at parties and got away with it!

  i suppose alcohol was the only fun thing we were allowed to partake in....

  I gave the 'reading(tm)' at Skegness A$$emb£y when I was a teenager.

  Me and me mate whet and got 'as a newt' at the boozer. (I won't say 'pissed' because in Americanese it means angry whereas it means inebriated to we Brits).

  The CO came and thanked me after the session and looked a little disturbed at me. Poor old Bev Gibbons, he didn't comment on my post pub Andy Capp look. I wonder what happened to him? Bev Gibbons, not Andy Capp. He was one of the old school CO's IMHO and not the narcissistic corporation bully boy creeps you get now.

  Simes - Does anyone genuinely believe that Clinton, Obama, and Biden aren't utterly corrupt and guilty of conspiring to profiteer from their positions and fix the election?

  There will be those loyal to their tribe that will.

  As a Brit, I'm sick of hearing about American politics. It's meaningless to me, the politicians in the UK and USA are all corrupt filth.

  Secret Elders Book? Bwahahaha!

  i remember a couple of decades ago when the internet was relatively young and the wt was at war with it, that they were battling to keep the pay attention book secret, commencing legal action against anyone who published it online (and of course, trying to out anyone who leaked it).

  i think it was a norwegian skeptics organisation who had it available for download and dared the wt lawyers to come after them.. so i guess the new shepherd the flock book came out to try and put the genie back in the bottle and reassert some air of mystery and secrecy back into the equation.. so i typed jehovah's witnesses secret elder book into google.

  colour me gobsmacked!

  I remember after the local Elders(tm) disassociated(tm) me. I wasn't at that meeting, I was at a friends house playing guitar and writing songs.

  Shortly after, a new fleece the flock book was released. I obtained a PDF copy before the local elders(tm).

  Then I seem to remember that as a result of the Australian Royal Commission, a copy of the fleece the flock book was available on their site.

  ..and does anyone recall when there was a letter sent to elders(tm) telling them that if they had the book bound, a sister mustn't do the leatherwork?

  I no longer give a monkeys about the Watchtower corporation(tm) and don't have a great deal of interest these days. I come on here out of morbid fascination to see what my relatives are being indoctrinated with.

  I have long come to realise that the JWs are NOT a real religion, they are being suckered by a ruthless money oriented big corporation.

  It's all a sham. Such a pity the jobots can't see it like we do.

  job 26:7 he stretches out the northern sky over empty space, well should it be the southern that has empty space under it?.

  the north pole has the earth under it?.

  the south pole has empty space under it?.

  jan - a lot of poetic license was used in the Bible.

  I've often wondered about these folks that talk about the scientific accuracy of the Bible.

  I don't recall there ever being any claim in the book/s about science.

  I also feel that a lot of the O/T was in parable form. We just thought it wasn't. However, get 100 theologians in a room to discuss it and there will be disagreements. That's why I don't take notice of that noise.

  here is a talk by jeffrey jackson on how the governing body ''the slave class'' has remained spiritually awake over 100 years and alerted its members.. he looks back on the ''faithful and discreet slaves'' false dates over the 100 years: '' but at times, we look back over 100 years, and there were times they got excited about a certain year or time, and the end didn't come at that time.''.

  he makes the comparison between the ''slave class ( who disappointed others when the end didn't come ) to a barking watchdog ( who in his enthusiasm barks at nothing in the middle of the night and wakes up the owner).

  i remember that the wt used to regularly publish their membership and memorial attendance numbers.

  was that in the watchtower?.

  how would i find the current numbers by country?

  TBH. I wouldn't trust their figures. I'm convinced they make it all up.

  I have no idea what they've altered to fit their propaganda and agenda. But, if it's anything like the old NWT(tm), it's a load of Watchtower Corporation(tm) agenda driven rubbish.
