  Thankyou so much for the kind words............

  I cannot list you all.......there are so many kind souls here. Not only the lovely supportive posts that have been written but also those of you that have dropped into chat just to say kind words.

  This letter my father wrote is one of the cruelest things he could have done. The hardest thing would have been having to face it alone. Thankfully you were all here.......

  I cannot say thankyou enough to each and every one of you. You gave me the strength to stand up to them and now you give me the strength to face the fallout. That is unconditional love.

  What the JW's always profess to know about [love], they know nothing compared to 1 tenth of you.
  All of you should be proud of yourselves. I am proud to know each and every one of you.

  Thanking those also that sent private emails...........they meant a lot.........

  I think I just have to get over that email........

  Hi Joe,

  No, my father is not an elder and never has been. He has always been too "spiritually weak" to be an elder.
  But my Grandparent whom I lost during the pasy 18 months raised me for the first five years of my life.........and my Grandfather was an elder. But his love was unconditional. Now they are dead........there is literally no one...

  Thankyou, yes I did get the email and I tried to reply but your email wouldn't work.
  The point is.......My Mother knew that Ray Franz was a GB member.....she has been raised in the WTBTS......she was playing games........

  But thankyou for doing such a kind thing Jourles, I will put it to some wise use elsewhere.

  I have decided after much thought to paste my father's email to me here.

  Dear Stashya,

  I am writing this letter regarding your talk with your Mother last night. I have been aware of your apostate activities for some time and have chosen to overlook as much as I can in the eyes of Jehovah.
  Both your Mother and I are terribly disappointed in the way you have chosen to live your life. Five of your sisters are all faithful to the truth and as such are an example of what constitutes a loving daughter worthy of being loved.
  We have tried for many years to attempt to make you see reason but of late we are seeing a side of you that we find utterly disgusting. We can only put this down to the fact that you were not or ever will be our natural blood daughter. You were born outside of marriage and started your entire life with sin. I am not alluding to the fact that your birth was your fault, but that you already were born with bad blood.
  You question : why we are happy to see people that are murderers, rapists, child molesters and homosexuals die? Well, my dear, if you choose to live in Sodom that is your choice, but nothing you can say or do will pull us away from the truth or Jehovah. As for young children dying at the hands of Jehovah, I used to question this myself but as I see the years pass I can only see evil in the children of today, and your Mother and I will not be sorry that they along with the rest will die at the hands of Jehovah.
  We are at a loss to understand why you choose to visit apostate sites to research Jehovah's people rather than call your local congregation and request a meeting with the elders who will answer all of your questions with honesty. They will not distort the truth as you are doing by mixing with apostates who have nothing but an evil grudge to bear against the society.
  We know we have the truth. If we don't have it could you please tell me who does?. You cannot do this, can you Stashya?
  How many times have I asked you this question? All you can answer is a lame and rather pathetic "I no longer believe in organized religion".
  The bible clearly states that we must "gather together". That does not constitute a religion that is disorganized as you so obviously choose to turn to. Do you think your prayers are ever answered? If they are my dear, it is by Satan the Devil himself.
  Your Mother and I have discussed this in great detail and had little sleep last night. We had hoped that you would see the way and come back into the fold with an open heart filled with love for Jehovah. This is quite obviously not going to happen.
  Therefore I have no other alternative than to ask you to never make contact with any of my family again.
  You are not my daughter now, nor have you ever been. I refuse to acknowledge you at all. You have stated to your mother that you wish nothing further to do with us, well my dear, only we have the power to state that you no longer have a family to turn your back on.
  You are to us as the Harlot of Babylon. Read Revelation and you may see some sense in this comment I am making. From this day forth you have burnt your bridges.

  This is why I cannot go back as Comf with such kind words suggested. I have battled my parents for 20 years............battle is over....and this letter did hurt.

  Worthless without Watchtower

  i see so many posts here saying that jehovah's witnesses are brain dead.

  i just don't think that is the case.

  i think its worse than that.

  Hi Joelbear,
  

  I know that I was taught as a child that I was worthless. The only thing I could do to gain worth was attend meetings, answer questions at meeting, give talks and go out in service. I was a straight A student in elementary school but this fact was ignored by my parents and my pseudo parents at the Kingdom Hall that included 2 of the annointed. I was rewarded with recognition only for placing magazines and books. Guess what I became very good at doing.

  Joelbear, you have described most of our childhoods, and most of there outcomes. You are right, none of our academia was seen as important or relevant.

  I, like you, believed my self worth was based solely on the grounds of how "good" I could perform. This is something that I also placed upon myself. Continual praying was my outlet. I would pray and pray before going to sleep every night.....unfortunately I had so many 'sins' to confess that I frequently fell asleep on God.
  The next night I would have to spend half hour apologizing to him. By the time I got through with that and then praying for everyone else and then my sins.....well.....you guessed it......I fell asleep before the "in Jesus name" bit.

  Continual anxiety and guilt were the order of the day. I was 'never' good enough.
  It is only now that I can feel free from the anxiety. But it took many years of damn good therapy of which I am not ashamed to admitt.

  I agree in part with what you have to say about defending JW's as we were once like them, but I draw a line at those of us that had no choice, as we were born into it.....in my case I was adopted by JW parents.

  I always prayed for another set of parents..........

  Jon passed away this morning

  my name is kevin and i am jon's partner.

  jon gave me his password a few weeks ago and asked me to post to the board if something happened to him.

  as some of you know jon had been undergoing cancer treatment since the end of july.

  Dear Kevin,

  Thankyou for your kind words in your hour of need. I can see so easily why Jon loved you so much.
  I believe in an afterlife and I think that right now Jon would be looking down on you with a heart full of love and pride.
  I can picture him laughing and smiling; free from pain; urging you to go on and live your life.

  I will never forget Jon. He infected my life with a lovely warmth that many strive for and few acheive. No wonder you love him.
  Jon is not or ever will be a man that is easily forgotten.

  Please come back to chat whenever you want.....I will always chat with you. You also are a soft gentle soul. And it shines even now. Jon was a lucky man too.

  Family About to Disown Me

  well i finally got the guts to tell my mother that i had enlisted in the army.

  she didn't say a whole lot to me, but she did tell my sister she was calling the elders and that when i was df'd she would have nothing to do with me.

  i can't say that it suprises me too much, but i was hoping for more of an adult reaction.

  Congratulations on such a fine thing you are doing for your country.
  I am sorry to hear what is happening within your family, and my heart goes out to you.

  It is painful to be shunned, but it is something you eventually come to accept.

  Far better to stand and be counted for what you are than be liked for what you are not.....

  I called my mother tonight to say a friendly hello. What did I get?
  You guessed it. A good old fashioned preaching to.

  "Isn't it good how the WTBTS have warned us how the world would get?"
  "Won't it be good when what happened in NY happens all over the world and gets rid of all the wicked ones?"

  I lost it....I really lost it!!

  I told my mother about Crisis of Conscience. She said "Raymond Franz? Never heard of him!" "He was never a member of the Governing Body"
  "You had better get your facts right from your apostate sites before you start sprouting off about JW's"

  I told my mother that WOL was not a so-called apostate site.
  She said "Yes it is, they all are. No real JW would be seen on the internet discussing the "truth"."

  I told her to look it up for herself.....she said "I really can no longer speak to you".

  Well, considering the fact that I have been shunned more times than I can remember this is no surprise to me.
  But I carried on......I brought up not wanting to live forever with a God that would enjoy murder on such a grand scale.

  My mother turned her colors from normal to flaming red.......I became the despised one tonight. Not just shunned, but utterly despised.....and I felt every barb she threw.

  To end it, I said to her that I no longer wish to associate with any of my family (I am adopted) until they were no longer JW's.
  Many of you may remember my post a while back where I considered saying nothing to them due to their age........well when I heard the utter contempt in my mother's voice.....age no longer mattered.

  I went down on my terms and fighting. I will never see or speak to them again. And for the first time......it's ok!
