Hey flipper I remember listening to Led Zeppelin stairway to heaven back then. I did'nt have to hide from dad I was already married. Both my wife and I look back now and can't believe the crap we went through being part of this cult. Not long ago we talk to our sons inlaws and they said 1975 was not as a big deal as was made out to be. The WT never said the end was coming in 1975. And no one in their congregation took notice of the date. Later on we told our son they were telling an untruth "lying". The WT was at a fever pitch telling how 6000yrs. of mankind was ending and how 1975 would be the year the Big A was coming. Kids today just missed out in all the fun of the 1975 fever. I felt the same way about JAH zapping me because my wife and I were doing things in bed the WT did not like. Matter of fact if they knew we could have been df. Darn I could have been free of this mess back then. What a thick head I had took all these years to wake up. Totally ADD

I was a born in just married, working hard at anything I could find. Unemployment was in our area was close to 25%. I was in the building trades in FL. I remember both my wife and I went to my parents in early 1976 and asked why the GB was wrong. My dad got so angry at us for even asking or doubting them. We just caved in so he would claim down. As time went on we had 2 children, raised them now have grand children. Its only been in the last 4 years we finally woke up. Totally ADD

Do you think a lot of JWs are ashamed of their beliefs?
by I quit! inthe reason i asked this is because i'm going to the funeral of a man who wasn't a jw.
my mother-in-law has lived in the same neighborhood as him for years and knows his wife.
i asked her if she was going attend the funeral service.

How the hell was True Grit rated PG-13?
by sabastious inthe movie opens up with three men being hung and the camera angle leaves nothing to be desired.
then it's pretty much nothing but crazy fun violence from start to end; some of it was pretty grizzly.. don't get me wrong, flipping hell of a movie... but it's weird that it somehow got a pg-13 rating.. -sab.

by troubled mind injust never ceases to amaze me how things in the organization stay the same .
you would think by 2011 these guys could come up with something better than " makeup now ,you know jehovah hates a divorcing !

Right on jamiebowers. Run and Run like hell. Abusive husbands are all to common in JW land. When it comes to elders they are not trained to take care of these matters. In fact alot of elders love the idea of that kind of control over women. I saw it all to often. Can't begin to tell you how many times we had abused wive's at our house to protect them from their elder husbands. But like the other elders I had no training to really help them. All I knew was they needed to get away from these idiots. One husband ended up killing his unborn child because of the beating he put on his wife. I am so sorry you went through that. It just makes me sick to hear about these things. Reason number 2 why I hate this cult. With sorrow Totally ADD.

Thank you Lady Lee. My wife and I will read this one for quite awhile. You just describe my mother to a tee. At almost 88 years of age she is trying her best to turn our life upside down. But we will not allow her to do it to us. I told her before two elders I will not have anything to do with her until she gets help. What is amazing how many people in our congregation are falling all over her to help her. It has been a real eye opener for us to see how this cult supports and enables a mentally sick person. But for us they don't even lift a finger. Some even believe some of the slander she saying about us. I think this is reason number 1 why I hate this cult. Totally ADD

had i not stumbled upon here, i may never have been armed with the courage and information i needed to stand up for myself and leave this religion.. i'd probably still be going to meetings, giving talks on the service meeting, public talks, going out in field service.
