May 15th WT - Wives Should be Obedient, Submissive & Not Disagree
by flipper inonce again we received the may 15th " witness only " wt from our lurking jw friend.
even though i've been out for over 7 years and haven't attended in that long - i never cease to be amazed at the arrogance of this patriarchal man pleasing wt society in it's dismissive attitude towards women .
it's horrible.

It was Jan 12 of this year. My letter of resignation as a elder was turn in weeks before that. The body of elders was waiting on the the CO visit which was at the end of Jan. I took the PO into the back room to talk to him about how they could help me with my mother who is suffering with paranoia. All I ask was the elders when talking with her to suggest she go to doctor and get help. He told me that was not the elders job because they are not doctors. I got so upset I went to my seat shaking. The song started, I looked up at the ceiling and decided this was the last time I will come here and walk out. Funny thing is the whole congregation is falling all over themselves doing things for her. ( Side note ) She will not have anything to do with me and my wife because according to her my wife went into her bank and stole her money under the nose of all the bank employees. Also my wife is having orgies in my mothers living room and asking my mother if she wants some of her man. In Dec. my mother burtally attack my wife in our car on the way home from KH. We called the police on her hoping to get her help but to no avail. In this state a person cannot get help unless they agree with it. When you have paranoia you are afraid of everything. My mother thinks I have the doctors believing me. Which they do but everybody hands are tied because she will not consent to help. I was hoping the elders would help me but all they do is enable her to continue with her looney thinking. When I say their lack of love and help I left. Totally ADD

Hey flipper just wokeup to this article of nonsense. The last time I did Temp work at Brooklyn 2005 all I remember is how the women treated their husbands in the cafeteria during breakfast and lunch. The men were lord and women was the slaves. I actually saw first hand were the Stepford Wives live. It was scary. The brother I went up with was kind of new in the WT he was on his thrid marriage this time a sister. And he thought this is the way wives should treat their husbands. That went over like a lead balloon. I finally had to sit down with them and ended up siding with his wife. I told him what he saw in NY is far from reality in the real world. I told him he needs to treat his wife with love and kindness and respect not demands. I sometimes wonder how many of those women up there feel trap and see no way out. If any of you have not seen the Stepford Wives get the movie and watch it then you will understand what it is like to be a female in WT land. Totally ADD

Are you your own worst enemy?
by Terry inever heard that phrase?
"he is his own worst enemy.."?.
of course, the meaning is obvious: some persons do themselves far more harm than a dedicated enemy could.. .

Sometimes I am and sometimes Im not. But now days I am not. Again I don't like strong debates. They for some reason make me sick to my stomach. Don't get me wrong if I am cornered I will come out fighting. Then later anxiety sets in and I feel bad about it. When it comes to christian and humanist debates I stay away form it. It is a no win war of words. All anybody cares about is being right. In the long run they are all wrong. Totally ADD.

JW superstitions about the memorial -
by james_woods innow that we are all thinking about jw memorial - i was just remembering all the silly superstitions the jws have put around this - their only holiday.
as far as i can tell, none of these are actually biblical:.
1) - it must be held only once per year.. 2) - it must be held on "nisan 14".. 3) - it must be held after sundown.. 4) - the bread must be unleavened.. 5) - the wine must be plain (not fortified) red wine.

Maybe it was said I did not see it. If you had a male who was of the anointed he must be the speaker if not the oldest of the male elders who was best qualified to speak. For a event that was suppose to help us remember what Jesus did for all mankind the WT sure has taken any joy out of it. What the hell was I thinking all these years. I have to keep saying to myself. Its a cult, its a cult, its a cult. Then click my heels then I will be free. Totally ADD

I admire what you are doing Oz. I know when you are not bombarded with all that negative news your anxiety level goes way down. The general thinking that we are living in the time of the end because everything is so bad is mostly caused by all this instant mass media we have today. I know when my wife and I go on vacation we have a TV but no dish network or antenna just our favorite DVD to watch. When we get back home we are always amazed at what we did not miss. That really helps to clear the head. Talk about low tech about 2 years ago when we had to get a new cell phone. I told this young girl who was taking care of us I do not want anything but a phone nothing else. She keep pushing for me to have internet access, camera, texting and bunch of other stuff. I said to her look when I was a child the only type of phone we had was a large wooden crank phone that hung on the wall then in 1963 we finally got a dial phone but we were on a party line and you had to remember what your ring was. Ours was 2 shorts and 1 long. She looked at me like I was a caveman. She never heard of anything like that. I ended up with a phone with a camera. Thats was the least tech phone they had. The young people today don't know what they are missing. It is no wonder alot of young ones are so stress out hearing all this bad news all the time. Totally ADD

The Smell of Coffee
by snowbird ini've returned to work, and, at the request of my long-suffering boss, am taking it slow and easy.. he has just put on a pot of joe; the aroma is overpowering.. one of my earliest memories is getting up around 5 am to share a morning cup with my papa.. i must have been around 2 or 3 at the time, because my parents separated when i was going on 4.. papa taught me to read from the maxwell house coffee can, having me read the words, good to the last drop to him each morning.. whenever i get a whiff of coffee brewing, i am taken back to those long-ago mornings in a lamplit cabin, sitting on my father's knee, sipping coffee and reading to him, basking in the glow of his praise and love.

I love coffee. I am lucky I can drink it anytime of the day. That is the only good thing about having ADD. Coffee in the morning seems to get me going and coffee at night puts me to sleep. And during the hot summer don't forget ice coffee. It's so good. I also remember the smell of coffee as a child. I always loved the smell but hated the taste of it until I turned 34 years old. One day I was offered a cup. I drank it and feel in love with it. To this day it is one of my life's simple pleasure. Totally ADD

Anyone here have any experience with the "super-natural"?
by Knowsnothing inand if so, would that prove an existence of evil-spirits (demons)?.
i have heard of a couple of stories of possession, or of jw's talking to spiritists and the spiritists having seen 2 men following the jw, either dressed all in black, or all in white, and very strong looking.
yet, i have never experienced any of it.. another experience that i heard is about a brother whose mom had super-natural strength, and tossed something really heavy.

To me it seems like some parts of the world have these experiences more than others. I never have experience any of this but on the lighter side I do remember back in the 70's a older sister in our hall was having problems with what she thought was demons. Her dishes in her cabinets were rattling and shaking. My Dad and I would come over to see if we could help her. We didn't see anything so my Dad prayed with her got out her Bible turn it to (PS 83:18) and we left. This went on for about a week. Everytime we went there we would not hear anything. That weekend her cabinets came crashing down to the floor. It turn out she had termites in the wall her cabinet hung on. Some would call them demons but in FL it is a common problem. Alot of times these things can be explain just like UFO. But there is that 10 % that cannot. Totally ADD

Will the WTS ever give up on Armageddon?
by factfinder injesus died some 2,000 years ago.
how much longer will people wait for him to return?.
will the wts still preach the nearness of armageddon 100 years from now?

I also think the WT uses Armageddon like other churches use Hell fire to control their flock. Nothing like death and destruction to get you motivated to do whatever they ask. The other day on the history channel they talk about millennium cults. One point I thought was interesting was these cults go only two ways. (1) They become very violent and destructive or (2) They become mainstream. So will they ever give up on Armageddon? No. It will only become some obscure teaching that is only referred to once in awhile as they become mainstream. Totally ADD

Who's old enough to remember Queen for a Day?
by Nickolas inwhen i was a kid back in the late 50's / early 60's (yes, i am very old, now let's move on) there was a television program that capitalised on the lives of miserable women.
it was my mom's favourie.
each day monday to friday there would be four women on the show, each with a sad story to tell.

Nickolas I saw a program on the future of TVS. They are working on one that you just paint on a wall. You hook up a wire to it that goes into a converter box. Also TVS that interact with you by your presents they will know what program you like to watch. Yes wasblind I remember. My parents got their first color TV in 1965 it was a zenith. It took two mins. for that thing to warm up before it came on. Only about half of the shows were in color at the time. The following year almost all were in color. I loved Star Trek back in the 60's but I always had to fight my mother over it. She claimed it was demonic. It was to cerebrial for her. LOL Totally ADD
