"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to the night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only LOVE can do that" Martin Luther King Jr.

MEMORIAL AT THE KINGDOM HALL OVERFLOWING WITH NEWCOMERS?
by steve2 inthis is a question for those brave souls who, for whatever reason, attended this year's memorial: .
who else was there?
was there any evidence that the witnesses are still attracting a large crowd of "newly interested ones" (to use their awful phrase) or even complete strangers drawn in by the door-to-door work.. i hear lots of comments about how poorly attended some of the weekly meetings in the halls have now become, so i'm curious about what you guys may have seen when you attended in the past day or so.

" I only need a place to lay my head. I won't even need that soon." "I just want to sleep for a few days"
Daniel, I have been following this saga of yours with a sad heart. . My concern is with your statements above. If there was ever a time in your life when you need professional guidance... THIS IS IT !! Having a face to face with another person who is trained and really cares for you is a priority. Talk this thru and don't make any major decisions until you get your emotions in check. I don't know you at all, but as a compassionate friend I urge you to take care of yourself first right now.

Are you a spiritual? - What is the definition?
by TastingFreedom inas a jw, the definition of spirituality is very limited and narrow minded.
but i have realized that i'm a spiritual person even as an agnostic.
watchtower's use of the word is completely wrong, and only used to benefit their own agenda.

I believe that being spiritual isn't measured by how long you have been a Christian, how much you know, or how often you go to church. Spiritual maturity is measured by the way you treat other people. It's measured by the love you allow to operate in and through you.
Preach a sermon everyday....use words only when necessary

Kindle for me, I have had one since it was released. LOVE LOVE my kindle!!!
It is so handy when traveling on airplanes, but esp easy to read out in direct sunlight. It is my favorite thing to take to the beach. Hubby has the Nook, not beach reading for him.......

For those who only go to the K Hall once a year for Memorial, this was a scare tactic. Instead of loving us back into the fold.
No Honey , just vinegar

The last time we went to the Memorial, Guy Pierce gave the talk. At the end of the talk we were expecting some upbuilding toughts, instead he said:" if any of you here tonight are here for the first time, or you only come Once a year for this nights celebration YOU WILL NOT SURVIVE THE GREAT DAY OF THE ALMIGHTY AND LIVE IN HIS PARADISE" then he went on about meeting attendance and Bible study etc... Well, my hubby and I looked at each other with a look that said ' I guess we're doomed then'. We left that night and vowed we would not be back. This leaves us in a quandry about Jesus command to" keep doing this in remembrance of me" We want to obey this command, but don't want to be a hypocrite and go to the KH for the Memorial........any thoughts?

We lived next door to the KHall, so it was always our "privelege" to have the CO stay at our home. Some CO couples made their stay with us so easy and comfortable. They were the ones who were rarely there. The last CO couple declined all invites out for the evening wishing to stay in. So then it became my "privelege" to prepare each evening meal for the time they were with us,not to mention breakfast too. They had their list of will not eat. Oh and by the way they would not allow food to be brought in or have any of the cong to drop by for a visit. At the time we had 3 kids at home. The rest of the cong. felt left out of the privelege to have them in their home for a meal and an evening of encouragement. But the CO wife said she couldn't stand the local food. Besides all the cooking I was doing, I was of course expected to join the cong for special week of field service activities. That was always the longest week, Tues noon to Tues noon. When the PO notified me of their next visit and told me of course they requested to stay with us, I told him that I was going to pass the "privelged" on to someone else, after all I had had them the last two times. He was horrified that I wouldn't jump at the chance to have them again. Well, he guilted me into it, and I wanted to be a good wife and a support to my elder husband. My happiest day came when we moved from that house and changed cong. Now many years later, as a fader I look back and shutter at how we all cow-towed to them like they were better than the rest of us.
