Things I'm grateful for....

i only recently decided to change course in my life but am surprised at the daily reminders of what i have to be grateful for.

by this, i mean, things i have spent my life worrying about, or torturing myself with, that is no longer a concern:.

no more door-to-door humiliationno more guilt about not doing enoughi can get rid of most of the dresses in my wardrobe since i didn't like them anywayno more nylons rolling down my abdomen and causing my thighs to itchno more required reading and preparationno more talksno more conventions and all the headaches connected to themsummer is wide openweekly planning is no longer contingent upon meeting nightno more miserable weekends of morning service and morning meetingwhat are you grateful for?.

Went to a Witness visitation last night

the family lived a few hours away and we have not had contact for about four yrs .

we have not been going to the meetings for over a year.

my wife and i had decided to check out other churches...i guess we had been feeling a need to do so.

But whose "justice"?

Isn't that just opening another (or several) "can of worms" that no one can agree on? Same as religion?

Abortion; gay unions/marriage; euthenasia; civil rights/racial quotas; welfare vs. charity;

"basic human rights" (like healthcare) vs. survivial of the fittest; capitalism vs. socialism; etc etc

(Wishing) if it were only so easy.........

I think that anyone who has bible principles in their life, are probably going to have happier family life.

DITTO.

Having said that, the head of the family thing I'm sure must annoy a lot of women who are more than capeable of being the chief organiser in their family.

And those women wisely and tactfully let their husband THINK he is the head of the family.

I did find it frustrating in the bedroom department that my wife stuck rigidly to what was allowed and what wasn't!

I found it great that we DID NOT stick rigidly to it.

Why would abandoning 1914 mean they are not chosen by God?

i've read here that if the wt admits 607 is wrong or if 1914 is wrong, the logical result is that god did not choose them as his org.

can someone explain to me how that logically follows?.

couldn't they just say, "we have received new light on that, have learned that we cannot give a specific date (like how they abandoned 1935), but look, we adhere to the bible more strictly than anyone else, we strive to 'keep the cong clean' more than any other group, etc., so therefore, we must be chosen by god as his only org.

Average JW couldn't begin to explain the 1914/1919/bowls & trumpet blasts/etc prophetic application to anyone. Most don't remember 1975, let alone 1914, meaning of conventions in the 1920s, etc. All that would go the way of the Great Pyramid Witness.
