  King David's Three Choices

  editor's note: found this on reddit...thought the meat of the post would be a good post for discussion here as well.. consider the three choices god forced upon david for taking a census.

  these three choices were forced on king david, not for murdering people, not for raping women, not for lying, stealing, or any crime we can think of in our modern world that is repugnant, but simply for taking a census or in other words, counting people.. for counting people, jehovah forced a decision on david that involved the lives of thousands upon thousands of innocent people.. the choices all dealt with the “way” jehovah would kill thousands of unsuspecting loyal worshipers.. 1 chronicles 21.

  Just recently heard that friends of our had it go through their entire family. Grandparents in their 50s/60s. Son & DIL in their 30s and their 2yo son.

  Surprisingly the 30-something son, who is healthy and in good shape, is who has had the worst complications. Pneumonia and severe respiratory problems lingering on. I thought the older, overweight, diabetic grandma would have been the one at greatest risk.

  several young jws on reddit have written the united nations asking about watchtower's involvement with the united nations.

  they been seeing to many apostate sites sitting at home because of covid.

  as a result, the united nations has re-posted the old letter explaining the situation on their site.

  I don’t think they care what opponents say. They do care if it results in lower donations and lower income. I think that’s what prompted the outburst.~ SlimFatBoy

  WTS usually refuses to make a comment. They have long held that to do so just gives legitimacy to the "false stories".

  The child sexual abuse lawsuits become so prevalent and publicly known that they were forced to finally respond with a "form letter" stating they "abhor" child sexual abuse.

  This public attempt at damage control is indicative of their concern and the affect it must be having in donations ("hitting them where it hurts").

  I think there are likely MANY active JW's that have closed their wallets since they all feel there are no local expenses that need to be covered at this time since the "lights at the Hall are off". Plus of lower wage earners are who are suffering the most financially with the Covid crisis.

  I heard an old kook suggest it was "designed" to kill off those that are a drain on society -- the old, infirm, and sick.

  Those will serious illnesses that are expensive to treat (many of them indefinitely needing expensive meds).

  Those elderly who would have passed at 70 years of age in the past (as Soc Sec was designed) who are now draining the SS system by living into their 80's and 90's.

  These people are "not productive" in society but rather cost society a lot financially in healthcare and entitlements.

  Or is it that "kooky"?

  Was 2019 the last convention ever?

  in a recent feel-good instagram post about the 2019 international convention, a jw remarked, "was it the last convention we will have?".

  there is no doubt jw's feel they are truly special and that world events revolve around them directly.

  there is also no doubt that whether we get a vaccine for covid or not, and at the moment, its looking very certain that we will, that the world will continue to spin and life will go on, regardless of the beliefs of the jw's.. once the pandemic is over i'm wondering if some jw's will realise that even though they lived through a notable period of time, life kept sailing on, and maybe they aren't that special after all?

  IF this was indeed "the last convention ever" then . . . .

  . . . . .it would most certainly truly be THE BEST CONVENTION EVER!
