Yes, wouldn't it be great if we had the likes of Ronald Reagan and Gorbachev today. I'm not sure there are men of that caliber today in politics. In fact, pretty damn sure there are not!
Then again, Jane Wyman might disagree with me.
the real gorby has died today.
he was my inspiration for change, with perestroika and glasnost.. that is why i chose the name gorby at jwn.. see the man at the background.
he was there also.. g..

this experience highlights the level of my indoctrination, after 10 years of been a pomo.
a few months back my gf was hinting to me about what we could do for my birthday.
to be honest i just had no idea, that i even had a birthday.
IMO, we have gotten too involved with birthdays since becoming POMO. While still PIMI with small kids (and not so small) we recognized their birthdays and did something special. We just didn't have the blow out parties, etc. Now though it seems we must do something "significant". We are all fortunate in our financial/material circumstances. For my wife & I, I think I can truly say there is nothing we desire (reasonable things that can be purchased) that we haven't already gone out and purchased. It's the same for all of our children and their families. So we struggle to find something "special" every birthday. Special and still equitable (can't favor one over the other). Personally, I'd rather go "all out" on those significant ones. THREE -0 FOUR-0 etc
ASFA Christmas, I still don't want any part of it. It's just blatant commercialization. Getting together since most everyone has the day off is great, but no one needs to piss away all that money for shit than no one wants.
As a JW kid, I always had gifts on or near by birthday. Just not "birthday presents". And I do not feel like I missed out on Christmas celebrations or other holidays. Especially since I was taught WHY they were "wrong". Of course I don't have any of those issues now, but the only thing important to me about holidays are 3- or 4-day weekends.
i was passing through a very liberal college town recently during rush hour.
so, i decided to stop for some refreshment at a fine-looking establishment and wait for traffic to die down.
a young waitress waited on me who probably could have been stevie nicks twin when she was young.
She's gonna be limited to an academic career probably, so I would hope she's really passionate about the subject in order to get a job in what must be a limited field.
That's not necessarily true. We have a JW friend with a degree in Anthropology and specifically Egyptology who landed a great position with the US Government (in an agency that she cannot name). She is in the Accounting/PR area. All they required was a 4-year degree of any kind.

'a jehovah’s witness who partnered with a couple he trusted based on their shared faith is suing them over ownership of a religion-themed gift shop in orange county.. greg holland of victoria, british columbia, claims in a federal lawsuit that thomas and nanci matos of pine bush, coerced him into relinquishing his property.. “through deceit and intimidation, the matoses stole holland’s investment and interest in ministry ideaz llc,” the complaint states.
Will they be facing a committee for fraud?
Are there two witnesses testifying in favor of their disfellowshipped partner who allegedly was wronged?
the org.
was all too willing to emphasize to the government - especially the left that they very obedient to the calls for mask, vaccine, and lockdown mandates.
those that know about the great reset know what i'm talking about.
I think WTS is getting a lot of sh!t in a lot of places around the globe (ie, Russia) and they are trying to "play nice" as they sure do not need other problems right now. They more than enough they with which to deal and plenty of them are affecting their CA$H flow (ie, pedo lawsuits).

LOOK OUT WTS! DIG DOWN DEEP....
THEY'RE COMING FOR YOUR MONEY!
there seems to be a push to fast track the younger men to become elders.
beings jesus was 30 when he took up his ministry, i would think that would sort of be an age gauge...the older men were to have their children in subjection, so some were old enough to have children that were old enough to want to rebel.
( that's my slant ) how will the ones who have been jw for years respond to being counseled by those younger than some of their grandchildren?
I think it's a Catch-22 for WT. Getting young men "involved" makes them feel important and gives them something to do within the Borg instead out in the "world". On the other hand, the deeper one gets involved into the inner circles them more BS you are exposed to and the more likely one is to see the hypocrisy and lack of evidence of any divine oversight.
a number of topics have covered work experiences by members who have encountered crticism for having a full time job .in the last few congregations i had attended this was never an issue as elders had businesses they owned and employed brothers and sisters .. while i personally never worked for a jw, both my young sons did at one time or another and my wife did also .i have always worked full time in secular employment and have never been criticised for doing so .and to my knowledge nobody else ever had that experience.. in the first cong.i attended an po as they were called at the time was an insurance agent and his bro.
was an assistant po also worked with the same ins,agency.. other congs,i attended one elder was an owner of a cabinet making firm while about 3 other different elders were self employed builders who ran their own business and employed others to work for them .. at the same time a couple of ms servants had their own plastering business going on supporting these elders business.. so i`m just wondering whether this is just depending on where you are from in the world and what time period we are talking about.. the time i`m talking about was in the sixties and seventies and the area was in s.e.
qld.
The first thought that I had come to mind when reading the title was that the "businessmen" (at least the successful ones) were held on high and given prominent roles in the Borg. Evidently® Joe Hoover was blessing those men, just as he did Abraham and Job.
a lot of my ex fellow servants must be now in their seventies, what can you do?.
no children no money no home.
it is so sad.. so many decided not to have children as the end was right around the corner and that was decades ago.
We ended up giving it to the local food bank. I guess the publishers can go there if they are hungry.
While we were still "IN" I do know of a single mom with two kids who went to the local Pentecostal Church at the start of the school year when the Church gave out free winter coats to anyone, not just members and without questioning them. No doubt she was just guilty of not relying on Joe Hoover.
