How many preaching hours are real

they always have high numbers preaching hours.

Christmas, yes or no ?

i have just started to steep the mincemeat for my mince pies in dark rum .

christmas is a big deal in my family and circle of friends.

however among ex jws it's a bit different or so l understand.

No. Can't "miss it" as I never had it. (Kinda like Punk above.)

I think too many families go way overboard on it and go into debt and it becomes a source of financial (and maybe relationship) trouble.

We take the grandkids to see the lights at several major displays here. One of which was very religious in relating the Christian Story Of Christmas and we thought it "odd" that they were not familiar with the Christmas Story even though they and their parents celebrate it as far as gift giving, etc. Seems to me that just being a member of our society here (USA) they should understand the Story of it all. BUT not my job to teach them. They have parents.

It's just way too commercial. We don't need a thing in the way of gifts. We're "blessed" in that way. Surely do not need another tie (won't ever wear one again)..........or sweater, etc. The only really good aspect of it is that everyone has the day off and it's possible to get together as a family. (Something we would not even consider doing when JDubs.)

how do you get out of watchtower?

am i supposed to write letter to bethel or local congregation telling them i don't want to be a jw anymore?

If you want to make it easier on your JW mother/family to associate with you, it is better NOT to do a formal disassociation. Just "fade into the sunset". Say you are stumbled, or depressed, or busy. Just STFU and ignore any attempts to encourage you or to have a discussion with you. (It bugs the hell outta them!)

i have heard it said [numerous times] that jws live their life according to the bible.. i have also heard [numerous times] that jws have restored the correct christian practice following the great apostasy [?which is a different topic].

my question is 'is there any proof anywhere in history where jewish or christian people lived their life according to the scriptures?".

Church of England 1563 AD

Westminster 1647 AD

Synod of Jerusalem 1672 AD

Does it seem to you that there are A LOT of updates now of the Elders Book? I think the original was not "replaced" or upgraded or re-released for about 10 years. (Of course there were lots of handwritten note to be added to it from COs visits).

And it seems about half of these "updates" are about being contacted by the media. Ya know, they are tools of Satan!

Was / Is God biased ? prejudiced against certain Peoples / Tribes or Nations ?

let me explain :.

after the creation account of the bible, tribes of people and nations began to form and spread around the land.. god first chose noah and his family to protect them as he destroys all others in the flood.. and he ticks off everyone in babel ?

and then he favours abraham and his descendants as the nation of israel culminating in the jewish lineage to jesus the son of god.. he has never had any dealings with any other people`s or nation isn`t that some form of favouritism ?

But, if someone walked out of a tomb, that would be a sufficient basis for believing what that person had to say.

Just because THE BIBLE says that someone walked out of a tomb (presumably a dead someone), does not mean it is proof of THE BIBLE being correct about that or anything else. THE BIBLE cannot corroborate THE BIBLE.

Even WTS demands TWO WITNESSES. (Mattew's Bible account and Luke's Bible account are NOT two witnesses.)

When a child falls through the ice while skating and is finally recovered 30 minutes later and yet is revived, that makes the National News! ABC NBC CNN FOX AP Etc. and it is included in more than one study on the subject and debated in Medical Journals.

Even the writings of Josephus, which is said to make two references to the existence of Jesus of Nazareth, was unaware of the man being crucified or of any record or even rumors of his rising from the dead. (WOW!) Perhaps that kind of event just wasn't newsworthy back then, despite that numerous sources that do note the births and deaths and reigns of the Cesars and other world rulers.

Disfellowshipped & Returning

i am disfellowshipped and have been going back for well over a year now but because its not my 1st time it will be a bit longer before i will write my letter, would really love to find others in my area who are in the same situation as some many know its very isolating, not mixing with worldly people and not being allowed to be with family and friends can take its toll on a person, just wondering if there is anyone in perth wa that would like to get together for a coffee, movie ect .

Which of you readers are being shunned by their relatives / friends ?

a simple " me" if you dont want to say more--or a short explanation about who is shunning you and how long has this been going on.. i'll set the ball rolling: my daughter--her husband and children; my younger son --no contact from them for 40 years...because i left their religion.. (edit--i just noticed the typo in the header--if should be of ).

My closest elder friend is now ghosting me. (We've been gone about 8 (+/-) years.) Maybe he will still call to remind me of the Memorial.

Our kids are POMO. Most siblings have not cut us off. One is PIMO, others are PIMI (but still stay in contact since we are just "stumbled" and inactive).The ones who have cut us off have done so for other reasons, but take the self righteous position that we are "bad" people.
