why celebrate xmas?

many on here are ex jw....they have left the jws because of coming to find out the many false indoctrinations.

one of the things learned as a jw is that there isn't anything true about xmas being the birth of jesus.

( matt chapter 2 tells a whole different narrative about the baby jesus than what is portrayed by the christian churches) they learn the ways that are celebrated are pagan practices jesus told the samaritan woman that god wanted to be worshipped in spirit and it truth.

First of all, we do not practice Christmas even though we've left WT/JWs behind. We just don't need it.

I think former JWs that choose to celebrate Christmas don't give a rat's ass about "spirit & truth" of the foundations of the holiday. Christmas is no longer a "religious" holiday as it has been hijacked by secular society including non-Christian cultures. Only a very small percentage of celebrants are "glorifying the baby Jesus". No, the vast majority are enjoying time with family & friends. They are reaching out to friends with small gifts or even just a note/card to stay in touch and reconfirm their friendship. It's just too late to "put Christ back into Christmas".

It is absolutely amazing to me that WTS spends so much time and money -- OK, the lawyers are probably free, so then we'll just say so much time -- on pursuing BS like this. They were clearly just trying to squash the "vermin" (as they saw McFree). They wanted to make an example to put other anonymous "advocates" on notice. Truly it is a David & Goliath issue. They count on the fact that they can bankrupt an average person via the expensive cost of litigation. Fortunately Kevin got legal assistance from a non-profit legal group and...........David won again.

Congrats! Kevin!

the wt engages in history revisionism when insisting the world changed overnight in 1914. in fact the european power struggles that came to a head were centuries old.

millions of lives had been lost in the wars of the 19th century, with the world a powder keg the years prior to the assassination of franz ferdinand in june 1914 which is often said, albeit rather arbitrarily, as the start of the war that escalated over the next 4 years into the great war.

take a look at these two pages and ask if the wt's interpretation of history seems accurate to you.

what i mean by the title of this thread is what has happened to a relative of mine, one who is really upset about this factor:.

this relative is a distant cousin on my mother's side of the family.

she studied as a child and got baptized at 14 1/2 years old.

This somewhat describes my parents. They put off doing anything financially advantageous or risky (IE, going into business) be The End was sooooo very, very near. Did not want to be "materialistic". No pensions and thus worked well into their 70's. Fortunately for them, they inherited a nice stash (a couple of times).

Occasionally i think about the fact that this could have been us if we'd have repeated the same mistakes. We were zealous JDubs. We did a lot for "Kingdom Interests". Lots of "investment" -- money, time, sweat, etc. Fortunately, I realized early on that wealthy JDubs were revered. (When you're rich they think you really know. ~ Tevye) Thus, I had no qualms about working with the goal to make money (vs just getting by and pioneering). I worked for a couple very successful businessmen early in life and they were my role models. Here we are today, outcasts in the JDub World (tho not DFd or DAd), but have heard back through the grapevine several sneers about us enjoying our "Paradise" now.

The greatest revenge is living a happy and successful life!

Does this signature say anything to you? It's not just a sloppy writing of the letters. There are no attempts at actually scribing characters. It's just scribble. Is he just too important to actually put his signature to this (and it may not be only this)?

JWs near of losing their status a religious organization in Norway

last spring norweigian state refused to give public contribution to jws (religious organisations can apply that in norway and previously wtbs has been granted that).

the decision was caused because of practise of disfellowshpiping.. now there is a new twist.. 25.10.2022 authorites in norway send a letter to wtbs and told them that they have four weeks to fix that practise.

if they don't do that they will loose their status as a religiouse organisation.. intrestingly jws did not "understand" what authorites meant by that and requested more time.. how can they not understand?

There will simply be a lot of "voluntary disassociations because of one's actions or attitudes".

pimo , as i said i`m going out on a limb here and i might upset some people ,but i really don`t think this is a real strategy that works and doesn`t help the person who is still in.. while you may be doing this to keep the peace in the household and keep relations somewhat stable in the family arrangement ,it`s not helping the person who is still under the control of wt/gb to break free from it ,and isn`t that what you would really like to happen ?.

and are their children involved as well ?

that`s another issue ,the longer they are subject to this control the harder it will be for them to disengage get free.. maybe you should re-evaluate what you could do more to help your partner / spouse or whatever to free themselves from this bondage they have involved themselves in.. [ of course their may be others who are quite happy to have their partners/mates under the control of the wt/gb.

I feel the need to contact the elders in order to explain my circumstances.

Simply explain to the elders that you do not believe in the DFS and "problem solved". They will announce: "Estephan is no longer one of JW's." See there, no more confusion.
