At what point, does one become apostate to the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses?
by Vanderhoven7 inat what point does a jehovah’s witness cease to be a jehovah’s witness?
what if a witness doesn't believe some of the official teachings of the governing body but remains silent on these subjects to avoid being disfellowshipped?
is he or she an apostate to the faith?

Sadly I do remember that. Guess it ages me.
Interesting when looking at the "average" numbers as they are much the same today, but I suspect that they were more "REAL" back then.

Is WT Using ATTENDANTS At The Conventions To Be: "TOY COPS"
by HiddlesWife ini have heard from a few ppimis and several pimos that the attendants who are stationedly-assigned to the front entrances of the borgvenues (cahs and other arenas) have been checking to see if any persons (members and non-member visitors) have badges.
on the other hand, if these persons don't have one, this is what i was told that these dubs do this: corral around the non-badge-wearing individual and interrogate he/she/them plus questioning them, "why are you here?!".
also, even if that person or persons have an invitation plus showed it to these dubs, these toy cops still do that procedure.

Being an "attendant" at least gave you "reason" to walk the halls vs having to sit for hours drinking the KoolAid.

Reddit post about elder asking congregation for money to fix his car!
by LongHairGal inyes, there’s a post on reddit.
it says that after a zoom meeting a request was made to baptized publishers to give $20 apiece to fix this elder’s car.. while this sounds highly irregular to me and not necessarily approved by the religion, i am not at all surprised at the nerve.
this, unfortunately, seems to be the direction that things are going there!

I wonder what they are going to do when more older Witnesses pass away and there are yet fewer responsible people to even ask money from?
What I hear from family still (mostly) in is that young people are contributing and doing so beyond reason, ie, a minimum wage food service working who kicks in $100/month and thinks she should give more.

How about having a special undercover mode so PIMOs can browse the site with greater security?
by Island Man inwhen you visit the site it says jehovahs-witness big and bold.
a pimo might be browsing the site and a jw might come up behind him unexpectedly and notice he's visiting a site about jws other than jw.org, which can lead to the pimo reported for viewing apostate information.. to help remedy this risk, i was thinking about the possibility of having a button that activates an undercover mode where the title of the site is not prominently displayed so it's not easily apparent to an accidental eavesdropper that it's an apostate website.
also, the color-scheme and graphics can be different so that it doesn't look like the regular site.

Those at risk need to learn to clear their history, or use the incognito option on their browser.

a pet peeve of mine
by enoughisenough inputting this under "friends" because i couldn't figure out where to put it.
it is very often on here and in ex jw videos, ect that people like to undermine some of those who once we would have called friends.
there seems to be a view that window washers, plumbers, cleaners, construction workers are somehow less intelligent than those who may be college educated.
-

A college degree isn't everything,
Our newest SCOTUS justice is highly educated but cannot define a "woman".
I don't think anyone intends to disparage the blue collar worker when they refer to such as lacking qualification to be an elder or whatever the subject at hand. Rather, it is to stress that they are not qualified for all the positions that WT places them in. Counselor. Therapist. Etc.

My defense speech before the judicial committee
by Disfellowshipped-Brother indear brothers!.
we have gathered here because, according to your claims, i have apostatized, and as elders, it is your duty to maintain the purity of the flock.
it seems now that someone has contaminated it, apparently.

In a similar situation, we invited all the family (some JWs; some DF) and let them decide on their own. I did do the courtesy call to JWs to advise them a DF individual would be in attendance. They can make their own decision.

I wonder if anyone ever get senile dementia and they keep them locked away until the[y] die?
I believe that was the case with Grant Suiter.
