There was lengthy discussion of tithing in Israel, with a buildup to the extent that I almost thought they were going to suggest 10% donation or something like that. But no, they left donations voluntary.

PIMO friends tell me that their Cong just asked all Pubs to complete a written form that commits them to a monthly contribution. Said that this commitment is needed so the WTS will know how much they can depend on when considering foreign building projects (new KHalls hahaha) around the globe. No specific amount was suggested, but I expect the elders have been told what is "projected" to be contributed by each Cong based on cost per Pub basis, just like the assembly cost arrangement.

Reinstatement Procedure

what else has changed?.

during the many years i have been df'd the org has printed a new bible, new song book, doctrinal changes, so has anything changed re reinstating someone?.

i'm contemplating the leap for family reasons but due to my job and young family commitments there is no way i would be able to attend every meeting for months on end.

Agree with Sanchy. At least that was the way it worked before I left.

One thing that would weigh in is WHY were you DF? IF "apostacy", or if you are considered "apostate" now, then you'd likely be given much more scrutiny and require a longer show of repentance than if it was just plain ole ordinary things like fornication/adultery, drinking, etc

I think the best approach would be that you see all the things going on in the World and it PROVES that The End is very, very near.

a man caused a serious disturbance at a vehicle repair centre today, by screaming at staff that he self-identified as an electric vehicle.. the police were called - but after talking to the man, they said they couldn't charge him!.

in the 70's a bethel elder told me that every morning in the 60's the paint and scaffold crew, (which was located on the 5th floor of building 4) would go up to the roof and walk around the perimeter on top of the ledge, which i doubt was more than 12" wide.

then they'd go render sacred service to jehovah..

I very well know that being appointed an elder (and esp having any "prominent" privileges) definitely "pulls back the curtain" and opens one up to seeing a lot of the "dirt" that goes on behind the scene.

I suspect Bethel Service often does the same thing.

This article was based on a real event that happened to Sharon Garig who married my uncle. She was a nurse in Oakland Ca., saw a married JW scheduled for an abortion, she tried to talk her out of ending a life, went to church elders they tried to talk the woman out of ending a life. The abortion was preformed, Sharon was black balled out of medical profession.
The real problem in this article is the deception perpetrated in paragraphs 5 & 6. You will notice the “witness” in par. 5 has to bring forth testimony, failure to do so would be a sin,

This is why any (US) medical institution should refuse to hire any JW because it is clear that they have directions from their Religious Leaders to violate their oath of confidentiality and thus violate HIPPA law. Of course, it is the hospital, clinic, or physician's office who will be sued and (along with their insurer) suffer the financial consequences.

I hope there are rules that if anyone in the medical profession violates HIPPA law that they lose whatever licensing they have and are blackballed from working in their chosen (or ANY) medical field forever!

Of course, under the threat of being DF, many a JW who faces being "outed" for having an abortion or receiving a transfusion would be fearful of making charges. No doubt that would be construed as an indication of "no repentance".

Do you remember how the SECRET ELDERS' MANUAL was a deep, dark "secret" and to never be left out where others (esp elders' wives) could view it?

It must pain the WT Higher Ups that it is now in the public record and frequently new versions are released to the Dark Side even before distributed to some of the Elder Class.

the jehovah's witness church does not have a "fundamental right to avoid scrutiny" from the royal commission of inquiry into abuse in care, a high court judge says.. .

the church sought a judicial review to be exempt from the inquiry arguing it was beyond the inquiry's scope because it did not run institutions that cared for children or vulnerable people.. the bid was dismissed by the high court last week.

even elders can be part of the new jw lite brigade these days.

they don’t need to go on door to door anymore and there is no requirement for anything really.. taking meeting parts is all dead easy you could turn up on the day with zero preparation because it’s all in the meeting workbook.. quarterly elders meetings are just old men having a good old natter just like old men do down the pub.. congregations could be likened to pubs or bars these days just without the drinks, those come at other times.. no need for territory maps, these almost went away with covid letter writing now they are extremely slow getting finished as those who still go door to door only do ten mins.. you could even voice your questions these days about things the gb say and then just say “we can’t be dogmatic we just don’t know”.

i predict they will say this about 1914 soon..

We were encouraged by a PIMO friend to not fade, but rather fake it, so that we could enjoy the benefits of the brotherhood, and to just ignore the issues organizationally. (Yes, I think the R&F are predominantly good, sincere people.) However, we felt that by giving our passive support or approval might convince others observing our stance that we were still true believers and they should continue on as such also.

over the years i have shared a few examples of objects i have found while metal detecting near my home in northumberland in ne england.

i live in a rural estate that was the site of a medieval village with a manor house and defensive tower.

many of the things i find illustrate the amazing history of the location.
