I doubt they have a ten year plan, five year plan, or any plan at all. They just react.
Exactly!
They have no plan. It's the blind leading the blind.
(Wonder when that Holy Spirit direction is supposed to kick in?)
i am thinking that the "ten year plan" that some have spoken of is the most likely scenario.
the org.
has to both attract new members and retain as many existing ones as possible.. so i think they will let the recent changes "bed in" for a while, maybe a year ?

no matter what opinions you may have, the memorial is very important to us.
many are opposed to the way the organization performs the memorial because of restrictive rules as to who should partake.
as jesus said in scripture, "keep doing this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.
"Do you think the org will change it's stance as to only "anointed" ones partaking"
Not a chance. Lots of changes going on right now, but they are mostly superficial. That would be too big of a doctrinal change. JWs will always make the claim that the major doctrines do not change.
i prepared the following in abrief essay form from my research on the subject.. please read it through.
it will take a few minutes.i believe it is comprehensive enough for use with almost anyone.. if any one wants it in word ot pdf format, i can email it you.. a matter of reason.
the issue of being disturbed by the watchtower society becoming associated with the united nations as a non-governmental organization (ngo) is not a matter of faith, but a matter of reason.. .
What would a JW say to that?
Old News
Fake News
Apostate Lies
So what?
I'd bet AT LEAST 50% of current JW's are unaware what the WTS has said about the UN being the Image of the Wild Beast in Revelation through the years. The average JW is pretty oblivious to the deeper doctrines.
let's be honest, there's a stigma to the name jehovah's witness.
if they are going more mainstream.
i imagine the first recommendation was a name change.
Stigma?
I'm sure the WT Rulers don't believe that. Nor does the R&F JW.
Not sure what you attribute to the stigma. CSA lawsuits &/or investigations? Allegation of being a Cult?
The RCC hasn't proposed a name change and they've been through as much or more CSA problems.
Just my 2¢.
Doc
there's been a lot of discussion about the changes in the org.
you might think all this would shake things up, especially for the older or super dedicated jws.
but remember when gb decided all the khs and the bank accounts needed to be transferred/managed from the top?
And they will claim that they never told anyone they needed to die for the stance on blood transfusions; that some, in their zeal, chose to run ahead of Jehovah's chariot.
It is already being soft pedaled. If someone accepts a BT they only need to "confess" that it was in a moment of emotional stress or "spiritual weakness" and ask forgiveness. Such a display of repentance saves them from a JC. Should they admit they do not believe the the prohibition of blood and would accept the BT again if needed, they will be considered as one who chose to DA -- and no longer is one of JW's. I believe this will gradually move to an individual's conscience matter.
there're always things we did in the past that we wish had never happened or that we could make them all go away.. the wt actually can do this, to a certain extent.
speculation about tony?
they command the r&f to stop doing it, and it goes away.
And is the luck running out?
The R&F JW may fall in line on command, but WT is finding out that the prosecutors, attorneys, and policy makers do not.
in a span of a few months time, we have had many unexpected changes announced by the jw organization.
some here have expressed the belief that a great number of witnesses will leave the religion.
in fact, there is a great probability the opposite will be true.. yeah, ancient hardliners will have a hard time assimilating these changes, but the younger generation will likely welcome these changes.
Whenever the WT changes anything, always look for the smoking gun . . .
. . . . . AND FOLLOW THE MONEY!
Nothing motivates their changes in policy like the risk of losing money!
That just made me realize that this is the first time in several years that we did not get an invitation.
Well, I suppose they are so caught up in welcoming back those who are DF that us "stumbled & inactive" ones are on the back burner.
Maybe it should be no surprise that their Jesus has a dumb (or dumbfounded) look on his face. He likely couldn't believe what's going on in WT Land either.
...is you don't start growing a beard in the spring!
you start growing it in the fall, keep your chin warm in the winter, and then shave it off for warm weather.
at least that's how it works in my household and in the northern hemisphere where the gb are.. i have the sneaking suspicion that there is going to be a steep learning curve for many.. will they know to trim it along their jawbone properly?
Terry, you must have Princess Kate doing the photoshopping
there are no serious consequences for doubting the gb.
there are no consequences for going against the direction.
we can now celebrate anything.. what will happen if you take blood, celebrate xmas and birthdays ect?.
The new direction is if the person says they are repentant then that is enough. Its gone from what the elders say to what the sinner says
I'll believe that after I see it in practice. Right now it's just words. Those words might be simply PR spin and Theocratic Warfare (aka LIES).
We can be sure there will be much said in private elders meetings with COs and at KM Schools. BUT we can also be sure that it all will be leaked. There are NO such things as secrets anymore.
