I love this elder..

this past weekend during the watchtower study, along came in the discussion the title of the infamous book "millions now living will never die" and i was surprised he would utter that exact title!

when recent watchtower publications call it "millions now living may never die" .. i was about to burst a smile when i heard him say it!

very interesting moment during the study..

When The Judge first delivered the talk (memory says in LA) is was "MAY" never die. It was a hit, but to "juice things up", within a few weeks, and it may have been as soon as the following conv., he changed it to "WILL" never die. Thus publication was titled "WILL NEVER DIE".

Seems like the practiced continued with some speakers at dist conv to stray from the outline to "juice things" (think 1975). Seems to still happen today if you attend more than one and hear two different speakers deliver same talk.

perhaps some of you who are unbelieving spouses married to witnesses have had to deal with this at one point of another.

this is the first time for me and my wife and it has her concerned.

my wife wants to plan an anniversary party for us and she wants to invite everyone that she and i know.

I see no problem with the mix of friends unless you traditionally behave differently when with your worldly friends and don't want "stories" of your escapades with them to surface with all the JWs there, i.e., "Gary and his wife were both really liquored up and doing body shots on the bar with other couples at the company Christmas Party".

for decades fred franz was the guru of the watchtower bible & tract society.

he was obsessed with "biblical prophecy" trying to explain the book of daniel and revelation.

who took over after he stopped writing and who is considered the authority on the jws teaching today especially the so called "prophetic interpretation?

KH and DF attendance question

i was reading brotherdan's thread about df individuals having to sit at the back or/and leave for song and prayer.

i know this practice varies from hall to hall or is regional but i was wondering what right do they have to do this if kh is a public place?

it's a charitable organization, public place open to all i thought.

Hopefully WTS does indeed monitor this site and will know that they need to discuss this subject with elders at upcoming Circuit Assm. Since they discourage any criticism, how else can they know when there is an internal issue that needs attention?

i find many similiarities between the pharisees and witnesses today......... both used disfellowshipping as a weapon (john 12: 42........"because of the pharisees they would not confess.

both add endless rules, yet forget about the important ones, such as love, etc.

Dear Governing Body - Why Have you abandoned Preaching Methods That Work?

below are two paragraphs from the upcoming wt study (dec 15th study edition, pages 13 and 14) here the watchtower writer praises the methods used in the past for their effectiveness in bringing many into the organization.

i have bolded phrases that emphasize these points.. 11 for example, as noted in the book .

jehovahs witnessesproclaimers of gods kingdom, at the turn of the 20th century, c. t. russell and his associates strongly believed that they were in a time of harvest and that people needed to hear liberating truth.

I think it's the matter of accountability. If the WTS broadcasts a national/international message, it is "on the record" -- they can be held accountable. If a couple flaky witnesses going door-to-door say something that is deemed questionalble, it can be written off as a mis-statement of the flaky JW publisher. Consider the 1975 issue. Even the R&F is not real familiar with what was said. What if all the Dist Conv parts were on VIDEO as a recorded TV broadcast? Then you would have all the cases of WT approved GB/DO/CO speakers who made all the SKY FALLING, SKIP COLLEGE, PIONEER, THE END IS UPON US proclamations on tape. Not so easy to say that such things were not rally said. That one's recollection of such statements is exaggerated. Much easier that all testimony is VERBAL by mere publishers who are not a liability risk.

Just something I've noticed that makes me wonder...

i have found it very odd how much in-fighting and back-biting go on among certian boe's.. and it's rather strange that several (not all) of them will vent to me about how they can't stand this one, or they think this other one is out of line, or that elder's wife talks too much, etc.

or they whine about how many elder meetings they have to go to, or how they are frustrated because they have to deal with sister loudmouth-who-pisses-off-everyone-else.. and i sit there wondering why they would ever want to continue to do this job?

it's thankless, offers no compensation, rips you away from your family, and forces you to rub shoulders with company men and puts you in a position where you have to render judgement on someone with little or no understanding of what the psychological consequences to that person could be.

This would be easily explained away by the example of the apostles arguing about who was greater and seeking to sit at the right hand & left hand of Jesus. Imperfect human bickering.

The opposing thought would be "By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." The jealousy, competion, and playing politics amongst elders in the cong, elders within the circuit (coveting for talks, privledges, etc), elder bodies sharing the same Hall, etc. is eye-opening.

Undercover says: Yep... once you're able to step back and look in from the outside you start to see all the dirt. You see the politics in the elder body. The ass kissing in the MS and Pioneer ranks. The ass kissing of elders to COs and DOs. The cliques in the 'favored' families. The 'in' families getting away with things that would get others DFd.

I disagree, Undercover. It's not until you are ON THE INSIDE that you see it all. Most is pretty well hidden from the R&F and MS. The deeper you get IN, the more you see the playing of politics, the simony, the nepotism, the backstabbing....at every level.

Feb. 15th WT - WT Society says DFed Ones are Lawless- Just Like Demons

i would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.

the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".

anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".

I see more and more members just ignoring this and being discreet about associating with family members by applying the "family business" loophole to any situation. With that, all that is at risk is titles -- elders/MS/pioneers may be found to not qualify. If they keep tossing them out, no one (truly qualified) will be there to serve. (Jehovah can use the rocks!)

Disfellowshiped ARE REQUIRED to sit in the library!

my mother-in-law is making leaps and bounds in her progress to get out of the watchtower.

for those of you that don't know, she is df'd but has been working on "coming back".

recently i've been able to exchange emails about the dangers of the organization and share jesus with her.

In our hall DFed people always sat at the back.

How is a DF person to ever find a seat in the back of the Hall???? Those are taken by the one who are first to arrive. God knows that NO ONE wants to sit in the front rows!!!!! (except maybe a couple geeky brown-nosers)

went to the meeting today.

what a ra ra to be zealous in preaching sales meeting.

i was totally disgusted at the outright deception that they are spewing out.. .

I was waiting for someone to say, some can no doubt sell their homes and finish out the last days in full time service.

At first this was funny...and then I realized...someone could very well say this and get the approving head nods from the rest of the audience.

That's because at least 1/2 of them do not know the real truth about 1975.They wouldn't even realize it to be a deja vu experience.
