  So which makes more sense? Sex or no sex in the "new system"?

  obviously jah wouldn't allow for millions of pregnancies in the new system for fear of the same problem today of overpopulation.

  so would he throw in sex but not allow for the women to become pregnant?

  or would there be just no sex at all?

  Even the Muslim extremists think Paradise revolves around 77 virgins.

  (OMG! Does that mean they are perpetual virgins???? Never thought of it that way!!!)

  especially those in the over-40 crowd.

  i just got off the phone with an older jw family member who was reviewing options for golden years living.

  I remember when I was in high school, and my mother stated that it would come before I hit my mid twenties..........in my early thirties now.

  My mother said that to me too........actually she said I'd never start school, let along finish school........................but I'm in my early 60s now.

  Of course, HER MOTHER said the same thing to her too.

  it is so strange how once you distance yourself from your kingdom hall and friends, that they find it necesary to discuss and contemplate your departure and put out all kinds of statements that simply are not true.. i am licking my wounds today because some kind of nasty things were said about me to a friend of mine who is df, from her ubber righteous sister.

  it was via text, so it was there to read.

  the thing i can't figure out is i have nothing to do with this woman.

  Gossip is common. Think of the magazines, "newpaper" rags, and TV talk shows. The fact is, it sells. People revel in other folk's problems.

  JWs are no different. I'm not sure they are really worse (esp when I compare them to a few people at work -- even some who are men, THAT'S RIGHT!). I think it's that they claim to behave BETTER than worldlys, esp all about the LOVE ONE ANOTHER, so when they don't behave nicely, they're not only gossipers, they're hypocrites. Of course, elders only gossip to their wives and to other elders. Does that count?

  I admire those trying to change the org. but I feel it too late for that. Its time to leave and make a new life for yourself and family. Leaving quietly is the way to go. It would be even nicer if the GB respected those wishes of those leaving and put there pride aside.

  I think some changes MUST happen, sooner would be better than later. A visiting speaker made the casual comment to me that he never thought he'd be this old and had worries about retirement. He is a solid in the faith JW, and was not planting seeds of discontent, just being honest.

  2nd Generation JW is nothing; there are lots of 3rd/4th Generation who must be questioning all the same End of World--no time for marriage/kids/college -- warnings that Mom/Dad, Grandma/Grandpa, Great Gram/Great Grandad etc/etc heard and believed for decades. All old or dead. Thankfully Mom/Dad, Grandma/Grandpa, etc didn't listen to the marriage & kids counsel.

  especially when secret material, like the new elders manual, are leaked.... .

  I don't think they care about the leaks that much. We apostates are doomed anyway.

  I think it burns the hell out of them!

  #1 they lose control and they are SO into control.

  #2 it has obviously put them into damage control mode, demonizing the internet/facebook/etc, to try to stop the hemmoraging. Although probably as much or more damage is resulting from cyberporn, theus the new policy of not removing elders/MS who get involved in porn, less there would be no one left to handle the work. Remember the Awake! article where a Canadian (I think) university could not find anyone under 20yo who had not looked at porn? What are all you goodie goodie JW boys in Canada doing in your spare time?

  Did having a Bethelite travel to your congregation and deliver a talk motivate, encourage, or excite you?

  i ask this, because i just got wind that at my hall, we're paying the travel expenses for a bethelite to come and do our memorial talk.

  i don't know how much this is going to run us, but i fail to see the practicality of it.

  he's not delivering a special memorial outline or anything.

  Did you have higher ed when you were in? If so how were you treated as a result?

  i went to both collage and uni when i was a jw, i got marked and shunned as a result.

  it seemed like every week there would be some dig made from the platform about " those that chose higher education" , my so called "freinds" were constandly on at me " why don't you pioneer highdose?!!".

  i even had the ciruit overseer denounce me from the platform as being "spirtualy weak" never mind that most of the peers i grew up with had got themselves reproved or disfellowed and that i was the only who had been good!.

  I, and all my siblings, eared our 4-year degrees. Fortunately, most of my peers were able to do the same in our congregation-- including most of the elders' kids (our family included) without any real trouble from others.

  To the best of my knowlege, all (including myself) are still "in" and most are "core" members of the congregations they now attend. Some have even gone back and are currently working on advanced degrees (even while they serve as MS's or elders).

  Where the hell do you live?? There may be lots of young JWs moving there.

  Little Darth Vader made my night during the Super Bowl. I could totally relate to that commercial.

  i usually don't get caught up in they hype of super bowl commercials, and i was flipping through various channels during commercial breaks.

  however, i have to admit i was pleasantly surprised by the lil darth vader volkswagon spot.

  it touched me personally, because every kid i grew up with wanted to be darth vader at one point or another.

  Volkswagon's Darth was #1 in my opinion too, but the "official winner" for best commercial was the Doritos commercial with the Pug (dog). Interestingly enough, this was the winner of an ametuer competition, was produced in 2 weeks from conception to finish, and the cost to produce was $500 (including refreshments for the crew). Whatcha think Bud Lite execs and all those others in the ivory towers are thinking about spending $millions with ad agencies??

  so oompa got df'd this week...

  no call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.

  wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.

  my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

  If it was the case that you were unconscious or nearly so when rushed by ambulance into the hospital and were not in the mental state to really know what treatment you were being given.

  I heard of a case where two young men were injured in a car accident. One was a JW, one was not. At the trauma center medical personel could not determine who was who as their IDs had been removed from them at the accident scene and thus both were given blood. He was not held accountable as he had not specifically condoned the transfusion.

  Even now, if one conscents to a transfusion under the duress of fearing for their life, if that person is repentant, then no judicial action should be taken against them.

  for decades fred franz was the guru of the watchtower bible & tract society.

  he was obsessed with "biblical prophecy" trying to explain the book of daniel and revelation.

  who took over after he stopped writing and who is considered the authority on the jws teaching today especially the so called "prophetic interpretation?

  Thanks, James. I was unaware of the "rules change" and its resulting impact. (I read "CO" as Circuit Overseer).

  I can see where having the felony conviction on one's record could be a roadblock to many things later in life. Many careers where one must be licensed or certified by a State Board routinely deny felons. Many job applications for the most mundane positions ask about it as well.
