If the WTS would propose a "get out of jail free" policy -- get rid of the shunning for DA and let everybody out that wants out -- no repercussions on them -- how many would RUN for the door??? What % do you think would jump at the chance to exit as long as it did not meaning losing their family and friends??

Literature Is FREE To All, Donations For World Wide Work.
by PublishingCult in*** km 10/91 p. 7 question box ***.
question box.
should publishers and pioneers feel obligated to contribute to the societys worldwide work each time they obtain literature for field service at the kingdom hall?.

So does the Society still bill the congs for their literature orders or not?
I do not think they actually get a bill. However, someone in NY must be keeping tabs on what is ordered vs. how much comes in via the WWW contributions. If it is not sufficient, the CO will address the matter with the elders, perhaps suggesting cong should pass continuing resolution to contribute $$$ each month, thus making this an obligation on the cong. instead of donations at the whim of the pubs.

WT 15th Feb 2011;Treatment of DF'ed/DA'ed Family Members
by jookbeard inis this a newer hard line stance or has it been similar for the last couple of years?
there clearly must be a problem in this area in regards to nations that appear to have far stronger family units not adhering to the previous warnings, the wt article definitely has a barf alert comparing jeehobah's feelings when the angels rebelled in heaven!
well how the hell would they have know his feelings?.

Seems like Satan wasn't disfellowshiped. God talked to him in Job, and Jesus talked to him on earth.
But perhaps that qualifies as "necessary family business" ??????????

Somehow, I'm guess that it probably won't take the thumb ring (or pinky ring) for them to suspect it.

I'm starting to get flashbacks of those soliloquies.
Ya know why they use soliloquies?
They can't find any real experiences anymore, and so many pubs began to realize that the examples being given were total fabrications.

Channels Turn Foul as they Ebb
by Marie B. Paraison inthe watchtower channel is ebbing.
one sister told me that the change in the number of meeting days from three days to two days is because of a shortage of funds needed to pay for utilities.
in this economy and the waning of finances the kingdom hall attendees can look forward to meeting once a week in the future.. .

The utility reasoning doesn't make sense to me, as MLE states, most bookstudy groups were in private homes. The ones at the KH were often in a side room as another cong was using the main auditorium for their TMS/SM. No extra utility costs involved.
I believe it's more likely an effort to utilize the halls more effectively with multiple congregations. Nearly every KH in a metropolitan area has at least 2 congs meeting there. Many have 3, and I know of at least one that has FOUR congs meeting (and not a double-hall). That's 3 meetings on Sunday, 1 on Saturday, and each cong gets a different weeknight for their TMS/SM. The neighbors know the new songs better than the flock.
Also, mid-week meeting attendance was dropping off dramatically, esp the Bookstudy. Cut the obligation to just one meeting in hopes that more will make the effort to show up for it.

Rev. 13:14, 15 -- IMAGE OF THE WILD BEAST, scarlet colored (Revelation Book Pg 195) = League of Nations and subsequently United Nations

At least 50% of literature "ordered" by publishers though the KH went into their own fireplace as they felt obligated to place at least a token order for each issue even if they never went into FS. When WTS began publishing the public issues only monthly vs. semi-monthly, they required substantially less magazines to be printed for public distribution.
Now the new arrangement is for all public magazines to be placed in the open on the desk of the literature distribution area, thereby no one has a token standing order which they must burn at home. I suspect the need for public magazines will again go down by another 50%. I've been waiting to see a dramatic drop in the number actually published each month. Or, perhaps rather than printing less of each issue, this will indeed increase the number being placed at not-at-homes and laundrymats by the faithful ones in FS. Current printing is approx 40MIL of each issue.

New Light. Is it new truth or simply new understanding on the underlying truth?
by garyneal ini went to the assembly for half a day today.
does truth change?".
"the truth does not change," she said, "but our understanding of it changes.".

This went on for a few minutes as my wife waffled back and forth on how changing understandings is not equivalent to changing truth. I love her dearly but somehow she failed to understand the whole point of what I was trying to convey to her.
With the reasoning you are using, I suspect she is beginning to understand, she just cannot accept it yet, so she has switched to auto-pilot and is reciting the canned responses that she has been taught. I know just how she feels, only worse, since I'm the one who is trying to reason with myself, but finding the canned responses unacceptable as answers.
