JW's Thoughts on Medical Cannabis

i've wondered this for sometime.

to all of the jws on the forum, what is your opinion on medical cannabis?

i support it for a couple of reasons.. 1. i've battled clinical depression since age 9. after my anti-depressants stopped working when i was 21, i heard about cannabis' positive effects on depression through the internet and a couple of documentaries so i tried it.

In the US, medicinal use of marijuana has been legalized in some US states, however, I think its use is still illegal under federal law. Thus, I suspect JWs would still consider its use in violation of Caesar's Law.

Let's be fair:

Any defendant, in any court of law, would plead NOT GUILTY. That's the way the game is played here (US) to negotiate a reduced charge, if nothing else.

How can you fault the WTS if the girls nor their parents were not inclined to pursue the matter themselves? What's wrong with these parents?

I do not see where this incriminates WTS as much as it does the parents who evidently did nothing to protect their daughters or other potential victims.

just would like to have a place for those who went today to post their experience and the reception of the 7/15 study article on apostates..

We were visiting a nearby cong with friends (instead of our usual venue). A brother (whom I was told is baptised within the past year) commented that although he was not in the Truth to recall it specifically, it had been relayed to him how there were apostates who made claims about the WTS saying the end of the world would come in 1975, when in reality it was all said by apostates. Have another sip of koolaid.

The blank stare of the WT conductor was obvious -- his wheels were turning -- but he just let the misinformation pass unaddressed.

Feeling sad, dunno why ...

today i received great news .. one more customer to my business, compliments from my boss at work, and some payments i was waiting for.

but i feel sad, guilty, mix of feelings.... i ve been thinking about my life in the jw org, after 2 months of fading im having these feelings :( :(.

Thats the word.... Anxiety! I didnt know how to express what i was feeling ... Ive been reading more about spiritual topics in general, other than that im doing the same things, and im the same loving, caring person. But I was baptized at the age of 10 and im 30 , so i think is normal to have these feelings... thanks for your comment, i know im not alone with these situation.

You are certainly not alone. And, yes, I agree.......ANXIETY is a good expression of the feelings that come upon someone when they come to the realization that they have perhaps been duped all their life. It's like an onion. Something peels away the outter layer, and then it's one layer after another that gets peeled away. Each one easier than the previous. Further, I think it tends to undermine other institutions in life in which we have relied and that we have trusted.

You're talking 2 months. I'm at 1 year of revelation and still anxious, angry, hurt, etc etc

went to a funeral today, somewhat awestruck.

this morning i went to a catholic funeral mass for a priest who inherited, and help grow an orphanage in chicago.

he died from cancer which he had for the past several years.. when he got the orphanage back in the early 70's the church was ready to shut it down for lack of direction, and growth.

but since he took over the reins,.

The last funeral I went to I thought was going to be the usual JWS infomercial. However, the speaker talked about this person as a real person and did not turn it into a preaching session. I was so relieved .

We attended a funeral/memorial service for a long-time JW pillar last month. We were very surprised that it was indeed quite a "memorial" to that individual. It really eulogized him. It was quite refreshing considering what we were expecting. I questioned if there is a new Funeral Discourse outline?

my uber witness cousin has 3 daughters, 2 that are very much jw's and one that isn't (she never went for it at all).

how does it work that he can see his way clear to have an almost normal relationship with her even though she's living "in sin" with a man and has several times in the past and she also has dabbled in drugs along the way.

i thought you weren't supposed to hang out with fornicators???
