i believe that the governing body knew very well what would be the consequences of publishing the above article on apostates.
they carefully word every article, not only for the faithful, but for the unfaithful, and for those who have never believed our faith.
the above article and the comments here show me their great wisdom, because they have achieved exactly what they wanted.

my oldest teenage daughter (15) is a publisher and goes to all meetings with her father (we divorced, he picks her up).
i try to get her more involved in school and to spend more time with friends outside the congregation.
i'm to the point where i'm going to simply forbid it and send her off to collage early!
Jesus didn't get baptized until he was 30.
The WTS cautions people from getting married too young, or too quickly. Baptism is supposed to be even more serious than marriage, so it should not be rushed, and shouldn't be undertaken too young, because of peer pressure, or because the congregation or her dad thinks it's time.
THAT says it ALL! Why not 25? Why not 20? Why not 18? Why not 15?
If it was better to be baptised at 15, Jesus would have done it.

recently i remembered another example which shows how hateful and unchrist-like the witnesses are brainwashed into being.. a long time ago, when i was a pioneer, i was hanging out with a group of long-time pioneers after the district convention, in the stadium hallway.
some had been pioneering for more than 10 years and therefore were considered to be spiritually mature.
a woman who appeared to be a sister was walking by; she paused and greeted us and said something like, "what a great program that was.
Sounds like that little group of pioneers used the df process as an excuse to act like mean girls. It's funny they bother even pretending they were acting like little bitches for Jehovah
We're sa-a-ved and you're no-o-ot. Na-nana-nana!
Super righteous hypocrites.

how many of you have ever visited one of the branch offices or world headquarters of jehovah's witnesses?
i was an active witness for nearly thirty years and was associated with the cult for more than thirty-five before finally walking away for good last year.
during all those years i never made a trip to brooklyn bethel.
I've visited Walkhill, Patterson and Brooklyn. At the time I was so overcome by hero-worship for the organization and Governing Body that I had my picture taken sitting in the chair of one of the Governing body members! It's all very sad and funny to me now. I would love to dig out that photo mind you...
HA! Cedars! I had my pic taken WITH the Gov Body members! I went there to visit as a teenager. (But never signed up.) We took our teenagers to visit. (But they never signed up.) Then we just started going to Disney World (like Mrs Jones). Kids seemed to like that better. Go figure. Lack of spirtuality. None of them pioneers or MS or Elders. Bunch of losers.

as many of us realize- times are hard for the wt society getting men to " reach out " for an elders or ministerial servants position as young men aged ( 18-35 ) are opting out of doing that due to the pressure they are under from the wt society leaders and just that it takes up too much valuable time where men could be earning a living and helping their own families instead of a thankless magazine printing corporation.
in the article " train others to reach out " in this issue it has lots of strange, controlling, yet perplexing statements which i'm sure will confuse jw men who are considering " reaching out ".
in fact, i think this article will discourage more than encourage them from doing so.. on pg.
MS Qualifications: Fog a mirror; report 8.5 hours riding around in field service; enjoy ass-kissing the elders; pioneer during 30-hour aux pio special campaigns
Elder Qualifications: Fog a mirror (tho some older ones may not be able to anymore); report 8.5 hours riding around in field service; enjoy ass-kissing the CO; pioneer during 30-hour aux pio special compaigns; spread a little "green" around when the CO/DO are in town
Disqualifications: Ask any difficult questions about prophecy or chronology; get tired of kissing asses; get caught getting drunk (unless it's with other elders); piss off CO

so aggravated right now.
my "worldly" uncle is visiting our area and staying with my jw parents.
my siblings live in various parts of my parent's house as well (they are adults, just want cheap rent).
AwSnap, are you DFd or DAd? I didn't see that in your comments.
Assuming not, then WHAT RIGHT do the Sis & BIL have to shun you? That is NOT WT direction.
If you are DFd or DAd, then shouldn't they consider visiting worldly uncle from out-of-town "family business".....THEIR CHOICE in how THEY handle it.
EFF em.
Ask the uncle if HE wants to play by the Cult Rules?

well, sorta about sex .
myself and two other male jw friends of mine have been fading from jw's in the last year plus or so.
all of our wives are devoted and active jw's.
JEFF: I hear her come in the room I look up and she's carrying CoC and has a funny look on her face. Just as I'm think "Oh S*** I'm busted" she grins and says "this is MY copy."
PRICELESS!
Some guys have all the luck.

i was born in, baptized at 12 or 13. auxiliary pioneered one of those aprils when there was the big promo.
i took the act's in high school because every body else was doing it and glory be...i was granted a scholarship and my parents allowed me to go to college.
around the same time, two things happened: 1) an instructor said during a lecture: "question everything, even the things your parents taught you.
They have to want out -- at least a little bit -- before you can do anything.
You can't take off the blinders for them. They have to develope their own doubts.
Plant seeds.
"Can you explain the new light on the generation that shall not pass away?"
"Wow, that's confusing to me."
"Does it make sense to you?"
"Is there any other place in the Bible where a "generation" means over 100 years?"
"Gosh, that makes Great-Grandpa Sprint (I was named after him) and me the SAME GENERATION!"
"I still am not sure I understand that. Can you explain that again? Maybe with a scripture instead of just reading from the WT?"

i've been seeing comments made about this but have not really paid much attention.
when did this program begin?.
i wish i could have been there to hear how the convention speaker presented a dumbed-down version of the watchtower to an arena full of people who have been discouraged from education in the first place.. .
it has a more simplified edition (without almost any text), titled Listen to God.
If they only publish pictures without any words, they be confident that what their (non)printed words will not come back to bite them in the @$$ in a few years. Or, it keeps them from having to change the wording when they re-print the next edition.

i can't stand it,my brother who is an elder is such a company man.
he mentioned how one of his son's friends wasn't doing too well spiritually, and he wished his son wouldn't hang around him anymore.
he really has no say in the matter ,since his son is grown and out of the house.. but, again,it's already shunning the so-called weaker ones.
I'd suggest you go easy on the elders manual questions unless you want your bro to realise you're looking at apostate sites.
It was a CO who told me, "What's secret about it? It's available online!"
