I know of a brother who refused re-appointment as an elder. Said he did not want the stress of the responsibility. Accepted to remain a MS.

Covid-19 death rate
by BourneIdentity inworldwide numbers – 13%.
deaths: 359,791. recovered: 2,399,247. active cases 3,044,378. we need to throw out the active cases in our calculations, as we don’t know if those people will survive or die.
deaths + recovered is 2,759,038. deaths/deaths + recovered = death rate.. 359,791/2,759,038 = 13%.

Think of the millions of cases of corona that are not and never will be included in the active cases or recovered.
Think of all the cases being coded as corona related deaths that really are not. Medicare is paying an additional $17,000 if a patient has CV-19 and that more than doubles if it results in a death. There is a financial incentive to label everything as CV-19. (Not that hospitals would EVER do that to get more revenue!)
So, how many who were hospitalized or who died WITH CV-19 were labeled as having been admitted or having died FROM CV-19?

Why Do You Think People Become Jehovah’s Witnesses?

Very few “ normal intelligent “ people join the religion. Those that did were pretty reasonable people and they didn’t believe everything Mother taught them.
In our area a very successful Medical Doctor joined the religion. Several year prior he left his wife & children to marry a DFd JW employee. Now that slutty DFd JW woman was married and not "sleeping around" she was reinstated; got him to "study"; and he was reeled in.
I have yet to come to understand how someone intelligent enough to have a medical degree, can believe all the Genesis bullshit that JW's believe is all literal! Does such a person just close their eyes to the BS and do what it takes to make the young wife happy?

For those who are STILL believing Christians...
by BoogerMan inthe latest watchtower of august 2020 discusses on page 15, "how will the resurrection likely take place?".
since learning real truths as opposed to the org's version of truth, has your view of the resurrection changed significantly?
just one example - regardless of psalm 37:9,11,29: matthew 5:5 & revelation 21:3,4, do you now believe that our destination is heaven rather than earth?.

"Faith is the assured expectation........."
I have found nothing that assures me there will be any kind of resurrection of those who die. I wish there was, but I haven't seen it. Everyone I know that has died, appears to still be dead.

Peace and security
by BourneIdentity inscrolling through the news this morning and i couldn’t help to think we are light years from any leaders crying out peace and security.
jws are going to have to wait another decade or two and see how things develop before they get excited about armageddon coming in their lifetime.

We don't even need other world nations. Look at all the Peace & Security in Minneapolis right now.
Of course, JW's see such as a sign of the lawlessness vs a lack of Peace & Security.
They will spin it to fit their recent revelation of New Light

I had a somewhat paranormal experience 2 days ago, but I think science is just light years behind on this.....
by Bad_Wolf infor the record i'm agnostic, never seen any direct evidence of spirits, afterlife, etc.
i've been visiting my mother during this corona ordeal.
a year ago i had a dream i was much older and talking to somebody about how my mom died this year but it was avoidable.

I think there are things we don't quite comprehend. As JW's we were psyched in on "paranormal" (demons). For example "water witching". It works. I don't think it's demons. But WTF is it?
My wife is a sound sleeper. Phones don't always wake her. But one night she sat up and couldn't sleep. Something was wrong. She went in and checks on the kids and the 4 year old had a huge wad of gum in his mouth.
Coincidence? Bullshit.

There are some people that make it necessary to make a note at the conclusion of your post that says it is "sarcasm" lest the humor be missed by them.

No. They aren't effective enough to put up with the inconvenience. I had to wear one to get my first post-C19 haircut. OK. I understand. I didn't trust the stylist to have been cautious the past 2 months, so I did. At the grocery store or elsewhere, no need. Just keep your distance.

Losing a parent is an emotional event even if having an estranged relationship. It reminds us of our mortality too. Hope the contact with your brother was good and you both decide to talk more frequently.

How have Jehovah`s Witnesses ever gotten away with being a Tax Exempt Religion ?
by smiddy3 ini can never get my head around this one ?
don`t the powers that be ever really investigate religions that claim exemption from paying taxes because they claim they are a not for profit religion ?.
you would have to be a brain dead imbecile not to see that the religion known as the" watchtower bible and tract society" otherwise known as "jehovah`s witnesses" are nothing more than a religious publishing house that have made x amount of $$$$$ over the years since their inception in the late 1800`s to this day.

It's easy in the US. You just have to claim that you are a "religion" and you qualify as "tax exempt".
