Have you driven in a country that drives on the opposite side of the road?
by FondaCox indid you drive?
if so, how nerve wracking was it for you?
i'd be terrified i'd stop concentrating for a moment and out of habit make a right turn at a red light into oncoming traffic.

Reasons for doubting.
by New day insomebody mentioned in a recent topic that they had a conversation with a former elder whose breaking point was when the overlapping generation was highlighted in recent times and how he would never serve again until somebody gave him a scriptural reason to believe it.
i am in a similar position.
i have gone in the last 18 months from taking the wt study, leading fs groups, and doing talks on the mtngs to doing almost nothing, as i resigned a little over a year ago as an elder due to a combination of family responsibilities and huge doubts.

We started our fade nearly 10 years ago. I can only think of three occasions where any of the local elders reached out to encourage us to return to meetings. Only one elder who was a close friend in another congregation, continued regularly to remind us of special events (Memorial, Assemblies, Convention).
OH THE LOVE!

Cart witnessing -- just going through the motions to claim they are "preaching: again. Have you heard of anyone studying and reaching baptism from cart witnessing?
Door to door -- it will result in even more rejection by homeowners IF they are home. So likely just more "windshielding" despite the price of gasoline.
WE ARE DOING A LIFE-SAVING WORK
THE END IS NEAR!

The heavy-handed raid on Trump's Mar-e-Lago estate might even backfire, with Trump coming out of the episode looking better than before it started. ~ LUHE
It seems that is exactly what is happening.
But the GOP has been trying to find ways to either marginalize Trump or convince him to step aside, ~ Tonus
At least the GOP Swamp Creatures. Trump never realized how many of his own party were working against him.
I don't expect Biden to run (or to be allowed to run) in 2024. I also do not expect Kamala Harris to be the nominee, unless the Dems want to lose. I expect them to force both of them off the national stage and try to find someone who can win a race against a GOP turnout
WHO is "sitting on the bench" for the Dems that can come forward as a viable candidate? It's so shallow that even AOL has been suggested. (Speaking of shallow.) -

Money donated for a specific reason
by enoughisenough ini decided to do this posting because of some comments in the post about pensions.
in the mid to late 1980's there was a flood and the local kingom hall was damaged and many of the friends homes were damaged...groups came in to help repair.
my then mother-in-law literally lost everything-she had no home to repair...she had been renting a small trailer and it washed away.

I recall a "down and out" family seeking a handout who appeared with every family member holding a fountain Coke from a fast food restaurant, and then whining that they only had one piece of KFC chicken remaining for food. My thoughts were that we never bought a soft drink for everyone (6 X $1.00 = $6.00) and we "had the means" to do so. Further, if we were running out of food, we wouldn't run to a restaurant. We'd have gone to the grocery store where you could buy 2x or 3x the amount of food. But, oh my, someone would have to slave over the stove to cook it.

I'm honestly embarrassed to say I am/was a "JW".
Yes. Hard to believe I (we) was so gullible!

But suppose that the teacher allows the rebel to show the class how he would solve the problem."
Of course, the problem with this analogy is Genesis 11:6, NIV: "The LORD said, 'If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them."
Seems like when "the rebel" got close to solving the problem, the "teacher" (God) stepped in an thwarted his capabilities (this time by confusing the languages).

the sounding of the trumpet
by enoughisenough ini will risk showing my ignorance but i had some questioning thoughts in my head lately...maybe those more scholarly than me have insight.
jw teach that the anointed who now die go immediately to heaven.
when lazarus had died martha said she knew he would rise on the last day.

It gets more and more fairytale like as this thread progresses. ~ Vanderhoven7
Well, that certainly seems reasonable considering it seems to be just that -- a fairytale (sic).

Elders won't tell you who have falsely accused you
by enoughisenough inhaving been a victim of this practice twice, i thought i would see if others had the same experience.
on one occassion, i was before the elders being told i was drunk on a certain day at a certain time.
( this was only brought up because when i was pushing for a meeting because of elder mr x adultery , i was threatened somethings would be brought out about me if i persued the meeting.

Matt 18:15 -- the accuser should go directly to the individual first.
Only after that fails should the elders get involved.

WTS Says Faith Should Not be in an Organization?
by blondie inthe hypocrisy of the wts knows no bounds
most jws would say, "but we have faith in jehovah, jesus and the bible, not in men.
" yet in many places the wts does demand jws to have faith.

Not a chance.
They would just announce: "[So-and-so] is no longer one of JW's."
Game over.
